Noticed your pet scratching more than usual? 🍃

🍂 As we move further into autumn, seasonal allergies can flare up for pets, often triggered by mould spores, fallen leaves, and weeds like ragweed. 🍁
😢 Common signs include itchy skin, red or watery eyes, sneezing, and excessive licking or chewing at paws. 🐾
🩺 If your pet's showing any of these signs, it's worth getting them checked over.

There are plenty of ways we can help manage allergies and keep them comfortable.

☎️ Speak to the team if you've got any concerns about your pet this autumn.

🦔 Before you clear the leaves , check who’s hiding! 🦔

🍁 A pile of fallen leaves may look like one more autumn job. To a hedgehog, it can provide valuable shelter or nesting material. 🏡
Hedgehogs are still active during autumn, feeding and gathering dry leaves, grass and other vegetation for their nests.
🍂 Leaf piles, hedge bases, long grass, log stacks and compost heaps can all provide somewhere sheltered.

✋ Before tidying:
👀 Watch and listen before disturbing the area.
🍃 Move leaves gradually, starting at the outside edge.
🪏 Never drive a fork or spade into the middle of a pile.
✂️ Check long grass carefully before mowing or strimming.
🍂 Leave some dry leaves in a quiet, sheltered corner if you can.

💕 If you uncover a resting hedgehog, stop, gently replace the covering and leave the area undisturbed unless the animal is in immediate danger.
🦔 Do hedgehogs visit your garden? 🦔

🧀 "It's only just a little treat..." 🧀

Following on from yesterday's post about National Pet Obesity Awareness Day, we thought we'd share something that might surprise you!
Those "just a little" treat we give our pets throughout the day can really add up, and the calorie count might shock you. ⚖️

😢 Did you know that 2 small slices of tasty salami to wrap up tablets in for your dog could be the same as you eating 4 cookies!!! 🐶
Or that a small piece of cheese for your cat might equal an entire burger and chips for us? 🐈‍⬛

💕 It's so easy to show love through food, but keeping our pets at a healthy weight is one of the best ways to keep them happy, active, and with us for longer.

Check out the guide below to see just how those little treats can stack up. ⚖️

💙 It's National Pet Obesity Awareness Day! 💙

Pet obesity can lead to serious health issues such as diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, and therefore, a shorter lifespan.

⚖️ Keeping your pet at a healthy weight means:

⭐️ Feeding them the right portion sizes and not overfeeding them. Check the manufacturers recommendations.

⭐️ Ensuring regular exercise and enrichment

⭐️ Attending routine vet check-ups

⭐️ Choosing treats wisely (or even better, treat them with food from their daily allowance)

⭐️ Regularly weighing your pet to track their progress and spot changes early.

Most importantly, it's important to stay consistent, to make sure your pet is as healthy as can be!

Thank you to Bobby the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel for posing perfectly for today’s photo….even though he is cheating the scales with his stick! 😆 💕

🐾💕 The tiniest, most precious little visitor! 💕🐾

We had the absolute pleasure of welcoming Dolly the tiny Cavalier King Charles puppy to the hospital for her vaccinations, and safe to say… everyone couldn’t wait to give her a very warm welcome! 🥹🐶

She was utterly adorable!
Catherine, our RVN, couldn’t resist a cuddle. (and we don’t blame
her! 😍).

💕 Did you know? Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are renowned for their loving, affectionate nature and their love of being close to their people. 🥰

🏥 A little vaccination, lots of cuddles and plenty of puppy love… what more could you ask for? 💕🐾

We can’t wait to be part of your journey and watch you grow into the gorgeous girl we know you’ll become! 🥰🐶💕
