Veterinary Professionals, a new set of resources has been issued by the RCVS to help practices meet an important new standard.
Since 1 April, all accredited practices have been required to have a specific su***de prevention plan in place. To support this, the RCVS Mind Matters Initiative (MMI) and Practice Standards Scheme (PSS), working with external experts, have developed practical resources tailored to veterinary workplaces.

Rapinder Newton, MMI Lead, said: โThese resources are comprehensive and will help veterinary practices not only create plans, but also implement and communicate them with staff, and regularly review them to ensure they're fit for purpose.โ
She added: โWe hope there will be wider benefits, including helping shift the stigma that still exists around su***de, greater mental health awareness, more support for staff wellbeing, and improved signposting to sources of support.โ
Su***de prevention is not just a policy requirement. It is about creating a workplace where colleagues feel safe, supported, and able to ask for help.
