💥💥💥 FIREWORK SEASON… THE SEASON THAT NOBODY ASKED FOR! 💥💥💥
Honestly, I HATE firework season. It starts weeks before Bonfire Night and somehow manages to drag itself all the way through to New Year. 🤦♀️
Who decided our pets needed weeks of random explosions to celebrate the turning on of a calendar? 😂
Joking aside, it’s genuinely heartbreaking watching animals struggle with the sudden bangs, flashes and unpredictable noises. Some shake and tremble, some bark at the offending sky, and others are so terrified they can hurt themselves trying to escape.
And that’s why, here at Maggie’s, we start preparing BEFORE the fireworks begin!
🐾 OUR FAMILY FIREWORK PROTOCOL 🐾
We’ve followed a routine at home for years, and it’s worked well for our dogs.
🏡 Curtains and blinds closed earlier — less flashing, less to worry about.
⏰ Last wee’s moved forward — ours usually go out earlier in the evening, rather than waiting until 10pm. Nobody wants to be caught short when the fireworks start!
📺 TV turned up a little — helping to mask those sudden bangs.
❤️ Calming support started in advance — we’ve used Calm X and found that starting before the event works well for our dogs. Always follow the product instructions and check with your vet if you’re unsure what’s suitable for your pet.
And, of course, plenty of familiar comforts, safe spaces and reassurance.
Our routine has helped all our dogs over the years.
Every animal is different, though, and what works for one might not work for another.
🐶🐱 NOW FOR OUR NEW ARRIVALS!
We’ve been busy expanding our calming ranges here at Maggie’s, and we’re delighted to welcome SOOTHE & SETTLE to the family!
Their range gives us even more options to help you support your pets through firework season, including Hush Muffs to help muffle sudden noises.
And that’s alongside the calming products, aids and solutions we’ve carefully built up over the years for both dogs and cats.
Because nine years into running Maggie’s, we’ve learnt one thing: there isn’t a magic wand that works for every animal. Sometimes it’s about finding the right combination of preparation, environmental changes, comfort and suitable calming support.
🎆 And please remember, it’s not just Bonfire Night we’re preparing for. There are fireworks before it, after it, and then New Year’s Eve arrives to have another go!
PLEASE DON’T WAIT UNTIL YOUR PET IS ALREADY PANICKING. Start preparing now, introduce new products in advance, and speak to your vet if your pet experiences severe fear or anxiety.
❤️ Pop into Maggie’s and have a chat with the ladies. We’ll help you explore the options and find something suitable for your furry family member.
You don’t have to struggle through it alone, and neither should they.

💬 Tell us… how do your pets cope with fireworks? Are they completely unfazed, little barking security guards, or professional lap-climbers who’d quite like to crawl inside your skin? 😂
Let’s share our tips and help each other get through the season.
