This morning, while enjoying a cup of tea, I heard a little tweet that sounded like it was coming from inside the house.
After a quick look around and finding nothing, I glanced down… and there it was, perched on the cushion looking straight at me.
Judging by its feathers and the yellow edges of its beak, it looked like a nestling, so I thought it must have come from somewhere nearby.
Sure enough, after a look around the back door, I spotted a nest tucked away high up in one of the man-made nest boxes. Inside were several more nestlings, with Mum regularly flying back to feed them.
So out came the ladder, bird in hand, and up we go, back into the nest it went. It was reunited with its family, and hopefully it’ll now go on to live a long life.
I bet it’s saying to its brothers and sisters right now, “You’ll never believe what happened to me today!” 😂
