Carol who owns Spider isn’t on social media, (Emma has tried and failed to convert her! 😜) but she wanted us to share this… 🥰🧡
I am beyond proud of Mark and Spider's performance at the Area Festival at Speedgate last weekend
Producing a horse to be competitive at this Event has taken time, patience and dedication from everyone at Mark Butler Dressage over a number of years.
Given Spider was out of action for months with a serious infection followed by a foot abscess, his care and management have been key. My farrier and physios and critically the 'home team' of Mark, Emma and their staff have been there for him every step of the way and never faltered especially as I have been 'off games' since February !!!
The management and training Spider has received since his arrival 6 years ago has transformed him from a rather overweight, uptight and noncompliant pony into an obedient, relaxed horse that can hold his own at a competition.
When a judge writes on his score sheet that he is 'nicely trained' I know he is in capable and safe hands at MBD for which l am truly grateful.

I was delighted for our lovely, long term client Carol yesterday, after a really difficult 12 months with her chestnut gelding, Amber Samurai, known as Spider 🕷️ he finished 4th in the Summer Speedgate Area Festival.
It’s taken a mighty team to get him back up to full fitness, after a really nasty infection. With the help of his farrier, physio, saddler and a long time spent just walking… no mean feat in winter ❄️- he produced a really lovely test to get 68.5% and finish 4th.
Thank you to Emma Butler - Coaching for Confidence who always turns the horses out beautifully and for his fan club who turned out in force yesterday to see him.

Penfold won both novices at Aster Horses yesterday with just under 70 and 72% two polished tests and he feels really secure at this level and has now qualified for the Associated Championships where it will be great to get him out against some fellow Baroque types.
Thrilled he’s holding his own against more conventional dressage horses.
Thanks to Emma Butler - Coaching for Confidence for turning him out so beautifully.

So very sad to hear the passing of Stephen Clarke, I was incredibly lucky to train regularly with him at the TTT in Surrey for many years.

Penfold 🖤 and Raymond 🩶 without the luxury of owners and backers, Emma and I decided that we needed to focus on finding horses that we loved to ride then make them the best they could be. First we found Ray then 10 months later Penfold. And off we went doing our thing 🙌🏻 with a small, but perfectly formed, support group.
I can honestly say the last three years have been the best, these two Iberian horses 🇪🇸 have been an absolute pleasure to train, to care for and to love. Both wildly different but both so talented.
