The Lichfield & District Annual Ploughing Match takes place on Sunday 13th September, with a full day celebrating agricultural skills both old and new.

🌿 Hedge laying & mechanical hedge cutting
🐴 Horse ploughing demonstration

🍺 Licensed bar
🏆 Prize giving at 3.30pm

🚜🌾 ONE WEEK TO GO! 🌾🚜

Next Saturday, the Uttoxeter Agricultural Society District Ploughing & Hedgelaying Match returns for another great day celebrating traditional and modern agricultural skills.

This year's match will include the Open Horse Ploughing Competition, alongside ploughing and hedgelaying competitions throughout the day.

A big thank you to the Brookes Family for kindly allowing the event to be held at Lower Loxley Farm.

🌱 The match is a fundraising event in support of the Staffordshire & Birmingham Agricultural Society, helping us continue to support and celebrate agriculture across the county.

***New*** ‘‘Thirsty Thursday’, 3rd September 2026, 7pm-10.30 pm. A social event for members, friends and young farmers, 18 –50 years of age. Complimentary light snacks will be available and the Bar will be open.

🚜 ONE WEEK TO GO! 🚜

This time next week, the Burton Ploughing & Hedge Laying Match 2026 will be underway at Dunstall Crossroads, Dunstall!

📅 Saturday 5th September
⏰ 9am–4pm

There’s plenty to see and enjoy throughout the day, including vintage & modern ploughing, hedge laying, horse ploughing, a fun dog show, petting farm and FREE tractor rides. Plus vintage tractors and machinery, food & refreshments and a licensed bar.

🌾 A great family day out in the Staffordshire countryside — entry is by donation, with your support helping to keep the Burton District Ploughing Match going for future generations.

🌾🚜 FROM FIELD TO FURROW – FOLLOW THE SEASON! 🚜🌾

September means one thing for our Society Districts… Ploughing Match season is here!

Throughout the month, six SBAS District Ploughing Matches will be taking place across Staffordshire, bringing together competitors, farmers, families and supporters to celebrate traditional rural skills and agricultural heritage.

📅 Saturday 5th September – Burton
📅 Saturday 12th September – Uttoxeter
📅 Sunday 13th September – Lichfield
📅 Saturday 19th September – Stafford
📅 Sunday 20th September – Stone
📅 Saturday 26th September – Eccleshall

From precision ploughing and vintage tractors to horse ploughing and hedgelaying, each District has its own programme and character – and we'd love you to come along and support them.

🌱 These events also help support the work of the Staffordshire & Birmingham Agricultural Society and keep these skills, traditions and competitions thriving for future generations.

There’s still time to nominate an outstanding young person making their mark in farming and agriculture for the Staffordshire & Birmingham Agricultural Society Young Entrepreneurs Competition 2026.

🌾 Do you know someone aged 35 or under who deserves recognition for their skills, dedication and achievements within a farming enterprise?

🏆 With prizes of £2,000, £1,250 and £750, this is a fantastic opportunity to recognise and celebrate the next generation of our agricultural industry.
