This week we welcomed Bailey 🐾

Bailey has started treadmill familiarisation sessions to support him with degenerative myelopathy. He made a lovely start and is already getting used to the equipment at his own pace.

Did you know we're currently taking on new clients? Whether your dog is looking for summer dips in the pool, help managing a long-term condition, post-operative rehabilitation, or something in between, we're here to help keep them feeling and moving at their best.

If you'd like to find out more about hydrotherapy or laser therapy, get in touch to book an introductory tour✨

Rufus first came to us in 2024, and he's been a regular visitor ever since.

While many dogs attend Rosecroft for rehabilitation, Rufus comes along for fitness sessions to help keep him active, strong and moving well.

As an existing client, he can book sessions throughout the year, making it a great option during the warmer months when normal exercise can become more limited.

And judging by his enthusiasm, it's safe to say he enjoys coming too 🐾

When the weather gets warmer, a lot of owners find themselves in a difficult position.

It's too hot for normal walks, but their dog still needs an outlet for their energy and a way to stay active.

That's one of the reasons hydrotherapy can work so well during the summer months.

With air-conditioned treatment rooms and temperature-controlled water, dogs can exercise in a safe, controlled environment without the worries that come with hot pavements and high temperatures.

Whether your dog is attending for rehabilitation or general fitness, getting everything in place now means you're ready when the hotter weather arrives.

β˜€οΈ Message us the word "SUMMER" and we'll talk you through how to get started!

Being a dog owner in summer can be difficult.

You know it's not safe to walk your dog when the temperature gets too high, so walks become shorter, happen less often, or stop altogether for a few days.

At the same time, summer often means more days out, holidays, BBQs, and social events. Your dog's routine changes, and it's easy to start wondering if you're doing enough for them.

They might seem more restless, harder to settle, or a bit bored and a lot of owners end up feeling guilty about it.

The reality is that putting your dog's safety first is always the right decision. Missing a few walks is far better than risking heatstroke.

If I'm completely honest, I'd rather a dog miss a walk than end up suffering from heatstroke.

Every summer we see people worrying that their dog needs exercise, when in reality, missing a walk for a day or two is far safer than risking their health.

This is especially true for older dogs, flat-faced breeds, overweight dogs and dogs with existing mobility or breathing issues.

Dogs don't die from missing a walk, they can die from heatstroke.

As the weather starts warming up this summer, it's worth remembering that exercise can wait.

Summer came to us after her owners noticed she wasn't moving comfortably and wasn't able to run the way she should.

She was later diagnosed with hip dysplasia and severe arthritis, which had started to affect her movement and confidence.

Since starting hydrotherapy, we've focused on keeping her strong, comfortable and active for as long as possible.

Now?

She's back to running around, enjoying life and doing the things she loves again 🐾

Even better, her vets have been over the moon with the progress she's made.

Hip dysplasia is one of the most common conditions we see and while it can't be cured, there is often so much we can do to help.

Our goal isn't just to improve mobility. It's to help dogs stay comfortable, active and able to keep doing the things they enjoy for as long as possible.

That's where hydrotherapy and laser therapy can make such a difference.

By improving strength, supporting painful joints and making movement feel easier, we can help many dogs continue enjoying walks, playing and everyday life more comfortably.

Every dog is different, which is why we tailor rehabilitation around the individual dog, their condition and what they need most.

"My dog sits funny and seems uncomfortable..." is something we hear surprisingly often.

For some dogs, hip dysplasia can be quite obvious. For others, the signs creep in gradually and can be easy to miss.

You might notice they're slower getting up, reluctant to jump into the car, sitting differently, or just not moving quite like they used to.

Sometimes owners tell us they seem stiff after resting, have a bit of a sway through their hips when walking, or have started bunny hopping when they run.

If you're noticing changes in the way your dog moves, it's always worth speaking to your vet. Catching problems early can make a big difference.
