Crombie had his dressing changed again today, the wound looks really good and clean. The stitches are going to come out on Monday all being well.

Everything all happened at once later in the day, including the rain so I didn't take any photos but here is a photo of Wallace - adventures of a yard dog looking like a pup bar his greying beard. He decided to just check the vets in today and then leave them to it as it was raining so refrained from eating anything today.

After her quiet, no pressure few weeks of hacking Gin headed to Inchcoonans Equestrian yesterday for a lesson with David Harland - Show Jumping. She was super chilled, ate really well and jumped great. I'm so relieved that she was happy show jumping. I'll try and keep things low pressure for a while but I'm looking forward to jumping her again. Today we did a little schooling in the field before she had her vaccination and teeth done.

She will get the next couple of days off and then we are off hacking again on Sunday.

Dressing change for Crombie today.

The wound looks good and is healing well. The drain had done its job and has now been removed. There is hardly any swelling now.

While he was sedated we decided to give him a sheath clean. I was suspicious that he had a bean and sure enough he had a huge one. He will feel much better now that's out. Wallace - adventures of a yard dog was pure delighted with this new found delicacy 😋🤮.

Crombie is such a good boy to deal with but he can be such a spooky t**t and being confined is not helping that.
Yesterday morning when I was picking his feet out he got a fright and stamped on my little toe. I don't have time to be lame so I just put some vet wrap round my foot and carried on.
It's bloomin sore today and it's not great when you take your boot off nearly 36 hours and four dressings later and your sock is still bloody 😟.

The vet is booked for Thursday for a vaccine and a couple of dentals so Crombie will join that visit for another dressing change and possibly stitches out 🤞🏻. Maybe I'll get my toe looked at too.

At least we've got the sun tonight. Just a cheeky wee cider or something would make it more appealing on my behalf now. 😎

Gin and I headed off out to meet Kath and Fred for a hack again today. Lovely to get her out and about to different places, hopefully building her confidence.

The livery that was for sale has sold this weekend and moved on to his new home so we now have space for a full grass livery to join us.

Let's hope the sun stays around for a while 🤞🏻.

Crombie would like to thank everyone who has very kindly sent him well wishes.

He is doing his 'box rest' in the shelter in the field so he can still be out in the fresh air and touch his friends over the fence.

He was fed up this morning, not understanding why he couldn't get out but he has been very settled and enjoyed getting out for three in hand picks of grass.

I admit that I wasn't finding the in hand picks of grass quite so therapeutic but just too much time to think.

A bit of warm sunshine in June for such a job would have made it feel much better but I had to settle for a woolly hat instead.

Horses...

Teaching us valuable life lessons like resilience, dealing with disappointment and of course financial management.

Apparently I didn't want to go eventing this weekend anyway.

Crombie picked up an injury in the field over night and managed to strip the periosteum off the bone. Thanks to Loch Leven Equine Practice for stitching him up. 🤞🏻for a good recovery.

I am sad not to be going to South of Scotland Horse Trials but hey ho think of the fuel money I'll save 🙄.

Good luck and have fun to everyone who is going. Hopefully we'll be back in action soon.

I've had a fab weekend with my ponies 💜, lots of fun and no pressure.

Crombie headed off to Inchcoonans Equestrian today for their unaffiliated show jumping show. We had a lovely time picking up two double clears. We jumped HC in the 85 Scone qualifier class and then took the win in the 90. I traded my rosette in for cake, one of my favourite parts about visiting Inchcoonans is the catering.

Gin had a trip to Cuplahills yesterday for a hack out with Kath and Fred. We went up to the top of Lucklawhill for fab views.

Today Gin hacked round the field at home and after 45 minutes of walk, trot and canter we embraced the no pressure approach and I stopped riding to see what she would do. First off she marched into the corner of the field behind the dung heap where we don't usually ride. After checking the gorse and fence in the corner we had to check the dung heap and then back down the track to find the best spot for grazing.

She'll get another couple of weeks of no pressure hacking and then we'll see how she feels about jumping again.

We are super busy at the yard at the moment so it's not all been playing ponies. We have two lovely horses in for backing and the livery side is full for now. We do have a livery up for sale so may have a livery space coming available in the coming months.

Another lovely day out with Crombie today at Foresterseat Cross Country for their one day event.

Everyone was really friendly and it's lovely the effort they put in to presenting everything with flower pots at the dressage, lovely, shiny show jumps and well presented, painted cross country jumps.

I was really pleased with dressage for 29.5. Crombie is feeling much more relaxed and soft to ride. Going better than he ever has.

The smaller show jumping ring didn't suit him and it was much harder than yesterday to ride him forwards in a rhythm. We had two down but there were positives with him not tanking me like he used to.

Cross country was amazing fun. He just got into a rhythm and felt great, I really enjoyed riding him.

We were lucky enough to finish 4th as the show jumping was pretty influential with only two clears in the class.

Crombie was a great lad today at Howe Equestrian Centre picking up a 2nd in the 85 and 3rd in the British Novice at their BS show. He managed to pay his own entry fees so definitely the golden boy today 💜💛.

He's feeling much more rideable and I think we are both enjoying ourselves.

He's off to Foresterseat tomorrow which wasn't originally the plan to have him out twice in one weekend but he had the day off yesterday and will get Monday, Tuesday and Thursday off next week. It will be good prep for South of Scotland for him.

So here it is my absolute favourite video of my wee girl flying round Badminton Grassroots last year.

You can see how happy and willing she looks the further she goes.

I had done much more with her on the run up to Badminton last year but she still had only been cross country schooling once and had three BE runs. With a change in the BE calendar this year we only had two runs as I didn't want to run her on consecutive weekends but she felt lovely and confident both times out on the cross country.

I so hope we can get this feeling again with a bit of time 🤞🏻💜.

Today we headed off to Strathearn Eventing - Sarah Houlden with Gin and Crombie to gauge how Gin is really feeling about cross country post Badminton.

Yesterday at home we hacked round the field, did a little schooling in the field and then popped some of the logs in the field and she felt totally happy and up for anything.

Unfortunately at Strathearn today she made it clear she really has lost her love for cross country just now and would rather not. She did jump, she did the ditch and banks and water but she just wasn't feeling her usual self and a few times when just cantering along said actually I'd rather not now. I'm not prepared to give her a smack. I did use my stick on her at the water on Sunday and she clearly remembered that today. She responds much better to me giving her a pat and telling her she is a good girl so we will take it slow. I will be withdrawing her from South of Scotland and Crombie will take her place at Foresterseat this weekend. We will take the pressure off completely for a month or as long as it takes and then start again and see what happens.

🐎 Over the next few weeks I would love to take her out hacking in different places so if anyone can suggest some good hacking places with good access and parking for the lorry or wants a hacking buddy we would love to hear your suggestions. 🐎

Crombie was a super star looking after Kaydee who is helping me at the moment and hasn't had the opportunity to do much jumping or cross country before. She had a crash course in jumping Crombie on Tuesday, she has ridden him quite a bit but never jumped him before Tuesday. They did great today and Gin was very good standing for me to film them.

I am confident that given time Gin will come back. I don't think there are ulcers as she isn't showing any other signs and is totally happy being ridden otherwise. I am sad and I hope it doesn't take too long but it will take as long as it takes so right now I'm grateful to have Crombie to take out. Its hard not to think what I should have done differently but I did what I thought was best at the time so I'll try not to go there. Tomorrow I'll post her cross country video from Badminton last year so you can see why I thought she would fly round this year.
