🐾CANINE MASSAGE THERAPY WORKSHOP🐾

James Street Vets, Louth
Saturday 21st November 2026

Would you love to understand your dog’s body a little better and learn how you can support their comfort, mobility and wellbeing at home?

Join me for a hands-on Canine Massage Therapy Workshop, designed for those who want to learn more about their dog and develop some simple, practical techniques to support them.

During the workshop, we’ll explore:

🐾 Anatomy & physiology of the dog’s musculoskeletal system

🐾 Common signs and causes of musculoskeletal problems

🐾 Simple changes you can make at home to help reduce the risk of some problems

🐾 The benefits of massage – and when massage may not be suitable

🐾How to recognise and understand pain in dogs
🐾Practical, easy-to-follow massage techniques you can use with your dog

🐾Pre- and post-sporting event massage for active and sporting dogs

You’ll also receive online access to supporting videos and presentations, so you can revisit what you’ve learned after the workshop.

Whether your dog is a much-loved companion, an older dog needing a little extra support, or an active sporting partner, this workshop will give you a greater understanding of their body and practical tools to help support their wellbeing.

Spaces are limited to keep the workshop practical and interactive.

We're often asked where (and how) you can use red light therapy on your dog, so this is the first in a series of resources we're creating to help answer that very question!

Red light therapy is a highly beneficial, non-invasive therapeutic treatment. Using red and infrared light can help support dogs living with chronic conditions such as osteoarthritis, or recover from overuse injuries sustained through active lifestyles and high impact sports, such as agility and flyball.

Here'a how it works:

💡Improves circulation and blood flow
💡Increases tissue oxygenation
💡Decreases pain and discomfort
💡Relaxes the nervous system
💡Releases beneficial chemicals in the body such as nitric oxide and stimulates ATP production
💡Improves energy, metabolism and cellular functioning
💡Stimulates the body’s own innate healing processes
💡Maintains homeostasis
💡Supports the body in maintaining health and wellness.

Please note: red, infrared and blue light therapy is NOT a replacement for veterinary treatment.

Optimus Lumina is a non-invasive, drug free treatment that supports healing and recovery. it is is safe to use at home by dog owners in-between physiotherapy and massage treatments. Ask your animal therapy practitioner about

🐾Arthritis doesn't mean your dog should stop moving. In fact, the right movement is one of the best things you can do🐾

Regular, low impact exercise and enrichment games help to maintain muscle strength, supports the joints, improves mobility and can help your dog stay comfortable for longer.

Every dog is different, the key is finding the right type and amount of exercise for them.
Combined with canine massage and a tailored rehabilitation plan, movement can make a real difference to your dog's quality of life.

If your dog is slowing down, struggling to get up, or seems reluctant to exercise, don't assume it's just old age. Massage could help them move with more comfort and confidence.

🐾Is your dog struggling with back-end weakness?

You might notice they're finding it harder to get up, tiring more quickly on walks, struggling with stairs, or looking a little unsteady behind.

Canine massage with tailored strengthening exercises can help to improve comfort, mobility and hindlimb function. Whether your dog is recovering from injury, living with arthritis, or simply losing strength with age, every treatment plan is designed specifically for them.

📚 Continual development and learning is an important part of providing the best possible care for the dogs I see.

This week I've been spending some time updating my knowledge with Canine Myofascial Kinetic Lines, exploring the fascinating connections between fascia and movement.

Continued learning helps me deepen my understanding, allowing me to bring the latest evidence and knowledge into every appointment 🐾
