⚠️🚨‼️MISTY BLUE FARM SPENNYMOOR
One month ago, our dog Guss stayed at Mist Blue Farm in Spennymoor. This isn’t something I post lightly, but I feel I have a responsibility to share our experience so that other dog owners can make an informed decision.
When we collected Guss, he appeared extremely underweight. We were also given back over half of the food we had provided for his stay. During conversations with the owners, they told us they had misunderstood the feeding instructions, hadn’t weighed out his food and had instead guessed the amount, explaining that previous dogs had only eaten one sausage a day. I found this completely unacceptable.
After bringing Guss home, we had to take him to the vets because he had a severe tick infestation. The vet bill alone was more than the cost of his stay. We were told by the boarding facility that they had never seen a tick on their farm before. Our vet also advised us that Guss had lost almost a stone in just 10 days.
We had also sent Guss with probiotics, but when we asked about them afterwards, we were told they didn’t know where they were and hadn’t seen them “ what did they look like” so guss had not received this his entire stay
Despite admitting they had made mistakes with Guss’s feeding, they refused to contribute towards his veterinary costs or offer any refund.
Because of our concerns, we reported the matter to the local council, as the business is licensed. During that process, we believe the feeding information on our paperwork had been altered. The original instructions we provided stated 1.5 kg of food per day (three sausages), but the paperwork later showed two sausages in different handwriting. Combined with the amount of food returned to us, we do not believe Guss received the food we had instructed.
We know this has been changed for a fact because when on the phone to them they said the sausages didn’t have a weight on them so they didn’t know for sure! This is sly and sneaky to me that would malnouris a dog and sneakily fill out the paper work as us the council have shown us the paper work nor me or my partner filled out the paper the way they did also they got our address wrong 😅
Seeing Guss when we collected him was heartbreaking. We were also told they hadn’t been able to give him ANY play or cuddle time because he was too bouncy, and that he had only been walked twice a day for around 20 minutes. This wasn’t something we were aware of beforehand.
What upset us most was how we felt we were spoken to when we raised our concerns. We simply wanted someone to take responsibility for what had happened to our dog, but instead we were left feeling dismissed.
I’m sharing this because I genuinely don’t want another owner to experience what we did. Guss deserved better, and I hope no other family has to go through the same worry and heartbreak.
