⭐️⭐️⭐️IMPORTANT NOTICE⭐️⭐️⭐️
Please read below update from Poppy, it’s super important to message this page or to email [email protected] instead of contacting Poppy directly x
A slightly serious post, which I will obviously be handling with my usual level of maturity.
I’ve been diagnosed with skin cancer and am having treatment. Yup. That sucks. Totally sucky indeedy.
Having spent some of my younger years turning myself into a crisp on sunbeds, I’m taking full responsibility for some spectacularly poor decisions. Apparently 'but I’m half Italian' is neither adequate sun protection nor a compelling medical defence.
Who knew? Apart from literally every dermatologist/anyone with any sense.
I can’t say exactly what caused mine, but I can confidently say that voluntarily grilling myself was not my finest idea.
So please: wear your SPF. At least SPF 30 with good UVA protection, reapplied regularly. Cover up, find some shade, and don’t assume a day at the yard doesn’t count as being in the sun. It does. ALWAYS protect yourself. Make it a part of your normal routine, wash face, brush teeth... put on SPF.
And don’t use sunbeds. If you want to look bronzed, get it out of a bottle. You can always blame the orange ankles on the lighting. There are SUCH good fake tans out there, no one even needs to know.
My diary and appointments are currently unaffected, as I've had my first batch of operations. But will need to have some further treatment in a few weeks - I'm hoping to time it with holiday I've already got booked off in the diary so there shouldn't be much (if any) disruption... but just to warn y'all that I might not always be my usual bubbly self. I’ve got quite a lot on my mind, and as most of you know, my brain was already operating with 74 tabs open, three playing music whilst trying to juggle a trillion things... and ooh shiny thing. And, being the absolute drama QUEEN that I am, I have obviously overthought everything to the max and turned myself into a pile of worry.
Which means it’s even more important that bookings, admin and normal everyday questions go through Lyndsay, please, rather than coming directly to me. She can help you, and it gives me a little breathing room while I deal with all this.
PLEASE don't think I am stopping work etc, I am not. I still need to work every day, to survive and feed my family. And obvs to launch that dressage career I keep threatening the world with. Diary is still very much open for bookings, we're just not booking quite so far in advance at the moment so we won't be putting you in for six months time when I leave - as that meant my diary was full for the whole six months. Instead we're saying for you to book nearer the time. This actually will work well cos it'll mean less of a wait for an appointment (yay!) and also means I won't have to give up precious days off to fit emergencies in.
Also, please keep an eye on your skin. Anything new, weird, changing, bleeding or not healing deserves to be checked. 'It’s probably nothing' is not a diagnosis, even if you say it very confidently. My ones were just 'weird' and only got flagged when I was showing off my six pack to a client who told me to go straight to the doctor.
Thank you for being patient with me. And please learn from my younger self, who apparently thought being cooked was a health treatment - oh the irony. ❤️
