This was an emotional one to put together 🥲❤️

The day Darcy was carried through our doors after his spinal stroke, we sat in reception holding him and cried.

We often meet dogs after their injuries, but Darcy was different. We already knew him well. We had met him years before when he came to us for fitness and conditioning, so seeing him return unable to walk absolutely broke our heart.
To watch him slowly learn to walk again has been incredible.

His owners have put so much love, time and dedication into his recovery, between physio, hydrotherapy and countless hours of work at home.

Darcy has never stopped trying, and we couldn't be prouder of him. ❤️

There is so much to say about Darcys journey this is literally a snippet into it, we will be doing a podcast with Darcys wonderful owners so if you'd like to know more about his journey please comment your questions below and we will answer them in our podcast 🎙

We had the best time on Sunday at Harvest Festival at Fosdyke where we were judges for the dog fun dog show!🍂🐾
We met some incredible dogs and their families, it was super hard to judge but we had an amazing time as a family choosing the winners. We raised £100 for Lincs & Notts air ambulance from the dog show alone which is amazing. Massive thank you to Issy Marshall for having us and organising an amazing event!! ♥️🐾

🐈‍⬛ Cats are experts at hiding their pain, but they can still show us subtle clues!
Look out for:
👅Changes in grooming habits (excessive or lack of grooming)
🍴Decreased appetite
🫣Hiding or reluctance to move
🚽Changes in litter box habits

Don’t ignore these signs – your cat could be in pain. We recommend to reach out to your vet if you notice any changes. Let’s give our feline friends the comfort they deserve! 🩷🐾

Our pets are family. ❤️ And while none of us want to think about them getting poorly or having an accident, sometimes knowing what to do in those first few minutes can be so important.

So, on Saturday 17th October, we’re holding a Pet First Aid session here at Woozelbears, specifically for pet owners and their families! 🐶🐱🐰

It’s a chance to learn some really useful, practical first aid skills in a relaxed and friendly environment — and you can bring the whole family along! 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

👀 Dogs can’t tell us when they’re hurting, but their bodies might!
Physical signs of pain in dogs include:

✔️ Stiffness or difficulty standing up
✔️ Swollen joints
✔️ Shaking or trembling
✔️ Excessive scratching or biting

If you see any of these signs, we recommend to take action! A vet visit could make all the difference. 🐶❤️

🐶🐾 Did you know that sudden changes in your dog’s behaviour could be a sign of pain?
Look out for:
🔸 Increased aggression or snapping
🔸 Hiding or avoiding social interactions
🔸 Excessive panting or drooling
Trust your instincts – if your dog’s behaviour changes, it might be due to discomfort or pain. Don’t wait, get them checked out! 🐾

Here is a handy guide on checking your pets weight. 🏋️‍♀️⚖️
When you see your pet everyday, it can be hard to notice if they've lost or put on weight as it's so gradual📈📉. This weight check doesn't require scales and it's great if your pet is fooling you with it's floof. 🐶🐱

😖 September is Animal Pain Awareness Month!
Did you know that our furry friends often hide their pain? Look out for these common signs of pain in dogs:

🐾 Limping or favouring one leg
🐾 Decreased appetite
🐾 Reluctance to move or jump
🐾 Excessive licking or grooming
🐾 Whimpering or whining

Your dog may be trying to tell you something! If you notice any of these signs, it is recommended to consult your vet for an evaluation. Let’s keep our pets happy and healthy!

Your physiotherapist will use a combination of soft tissue mobilisation and stretching, pulsed magnetic therapy and proprioceptive and strength training to provide the following effects:

🐾 Increases rate of recovery
🐾 Improves quality of healing
🐾 Reduces pain
🐾 Improve function
🐾 Improve range of movement
🐾 Increases muscle mass
🐾 Improve proprioception
🐾 Enhance performance
🐾 Improve gait

💆Massage
Does your dog suffer from stiffness, has he got tight muscles or had a recent soft tissue injury? We will help the primary issue along with any secondary issues caused by compensatory adaptations.

Massage increases the blood flow and oxygen to superficial tissue, skeletal muscles and bone, helping to remove toxins from the body.

🏋️‍♀️Exercise Programmes
Giving you exercises to do at home in-between your hydrotherapy sessions provides a 7 day week rehabilitation plan. This will increase the rate of recovery and the return to normal mobility. Core stability can be challenged by using varies modalities to target the major supportive muscles groups of the limbs, trunk and spine. These modalities are also very beneficial for ‘fine tuning’ smaller muscles groups used for more intricate movements.

For fitness and sports-conditioning we can use these exercises to enhance performance.

🐾💚 MAISIE WASN’T READY TO GIVE UP… SO WHY SHOULD WE? 💚🐾

A year ago, beautiful Maisie suffered an FCE.

Her owners were given the advice that she had only weeks to recover, get back on her feet and start walking again!!

They were told that if she didn’t… they may be faced with the heartbreaking decision of letting her go. 💔

But Maisie had other plans....
A whole year later, she is STILL here.

Still fighting.
Still learning.
Still improving. 🥹🐾

She has been on a LONG rehabilitation journey and her incredible owners have given her their absolute all, even on the hard, dark days when it felt hopeless they still didnt give up!

She is now learning to find those back legs again — and the progress she is making now is incredible.
Look at her! ❤️ What your seeing is just the progress over the last few sessions.

She may not be where anyone expected her to be a year ago…
But she is still making progress.
And most importantly?
She is not ready to give up yet.
So neither are we. 💚

Because sometimes recovery doesn't happen in weeks.

Sometimes it takes months.
Sometimes it takes a year.
Sometimes it takes even longer.

And sometimes, you just have to give them the chance to show you what they can do. 🐾
Maisie, your story isn't over. Not even close. ❤️
Keep fighting, beautiful girl. We’ll keep walking beside you every step of the way. 🥹🐾
