Meet Jax.
Some of you might already know or recognise him. He is one of the many gorgeous faces, from Central German Shepherd Rescue.
Jax and several other dogs from the rescue, have regular hydrotherapy in the underwater treadmill. He is now well into his retirement but still living his life to the full.
You might have also seen George, the handsome Labrador who has regular hydrotherapy, to keep him mobile and comfortable in his older years.
Who are Central German Shepherd Rescue?
CGSR - or Central German Shepherd Rescue - evolved from a group of people with vast German Shepherd experience. The aim was to create an officially registered charity designed to help those in need, something that was achieved in less than 12 months, providing local breed specific rescue across Central England.
We have a network of dedicated fosterers who look after the dogs needing new homes alongside emergency boarding kennels for the dogs that need rehab or extra assessment - we do not have a rescue centre where the dogs can be viewed.
All our dogs are assessed prior to rehoming. Prospective homes are checked and dogs are matched to the applicant, the dog's needs are priority. We arrange meets with the dogs and applicants to assess their suitability. Follow ups are completed after adoption takes place. Most adopters remain in contact for life.
All our volunteers give their time freely, no volunteer is paid, CGSR does not receive any Government or Local Authority funding so we rely on donations, fundraising & adoptions. Our main expenses are veterinary, kennels & food.
We have several forever fosters or Lifers, dogs that cannot be rehomed due to health issues - CGSR funds their veterinary care whilst they remain in an experienced foster homes for life. We mainly take in abuse/neglect cases plus strays or poundies - dogs that have served their 7 days in council pounds.
CGSR will also take end of life/palliative care dogs, our most notorious is George (a Labrador)!!! still going strong 3 years after his end of life diagnosis!
We attend many local events not just for fundraising but to educate the public about rescues, help with behavioural issues & give advice, talk about the rescue & ask people to share our social media posts. Any free publicity helps all small volunteer run charities.
Registered Charity Number: 1161944
There will shortly be a donation box in the hydrotherapy centre. Every penny will go towards the rescue and help them keep up with the costs of care of all their dogs.

All dogs deserve to be able to live their lives comfortable and mobile, this is why Tamaqua canine hydrotherapy help support registered charities by offering heavily subsidised treatments.
