Do you remember little Skylar? 🐶

Skylar first came to us as a tiny puppy, and some of you may remember seeing her on our page back then!

Well, she’s certainly not so little anymore! 😍 It was lovely to welcome her back recently when she came in for her laparoscopic spay.

It’s always so special seeing our patients grow from little puppies into beautiful adult dogs — and we’re so pleased to have been part of Skylar’s journey. 🥰🐾

Little Skylar then… and gorgeous Skylar now! ❤️

It’s National Dog Day today! 🐶🐾

To celebrate, we’ve put together a few photos of some of the lovely dogs we’ve had in at the practice recently.

We love seeing all the different personalities that come through our doors, and we thought today was the perfect excuse to show off a few of them! ❤️

Now it’s your turn — pop a photo of your dog in the comments and tell us their name! 📸🐶

🌿🐾 A rather impressive grass seed!

Beautiful Jessie came in with a very large grass seed embedded in her paw! 🌱

Thankfully, our veterinary team was able to carefully remove it under local anaesthetic — this means the area around her paw was numbed while Jessie remained awake, so she didn’t need a general anaesthetic.

And what a star she was! 💚 Jessie was incredibly calm, patient and so good for our team throughout the procedure. Our team worked carefully and gently to keep her comfortable and make sure the grass seed was fully removed.

Grass seeds can be surprisingly persistent once they become embedded and can cause pain, inflammation and infection. They’re particularly common during the warmer months, so it’s something we’re seeing more of in practice.

🌱 One very impressive grass seed, a brilliant team effort, and one exceptionally good girl! 🐾💚

Dolly’s Happy Tail 🐾❤️

Meet lovely Dolly, who came to us with “happy tail” — a condition where a dog repeatedly wags and bangs their tail against hard surfaces, causing it to split, bleed and struggle to heal.

Unfortunately, every time Dolly got excited and wagged her tail, she was reopening the wound. After assessing her, our vet decided that tail amputation was the kindest option to stop the repeated injuries and allow her to heal properly.

Despite the name, happy tail can be painful and frustrating for dogs. Dolly is now recovering well, and she is back to her happy, waggy self! 🐶💗

🐱 A calm space just for cats 💜

Did you know we have a separate cat ward upstairs at Ainsdale Vets?

Our dedicated cat ward provides a calm, quiet and peaceful space, completely separate from our dog ward, helping our feline patients feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible during their stay. 🐾

We also use Pet Remedy plug-ins to help create an even more calming environment and minimise stress. 🌿

Brother and sister Azul & Amarela recently came in to be neutered and were able to recover together in our lovely cat ward. 🥹🐱

Making their stay with us as peaceful and comfortable as possible. 💜

🎉 UPDATE: CALLIE HAS BEEN FOUND! 🐾❤️

We’re absolutely delighted to share that Callie has been found safe and is now back home with her owner, Andrea! 🏡❤️

Thank you so much to everyone who shared the post, kept an eye out for her, and helped spread the word. Your support made such a difference. 🙏🐾

Please help us bring Callie home. ❤️

Callie is a 6-year-old female Red Merle Border Collie who sadly went missing last night from Guilford Road.

She is very nervous, so please do not try to approach or chase her, as this may frighten her and cause her to run further away.

🙏 If you see Callie, please keep a safe distance and contact her owner, Andrea Little, immediately on 07854 592371 with her location and any information that may help.

Please share this post far and wide to help get Callie home safely. 🐾❤️

Thank you for your help!
