🐾 THE HARD PART NO ONE TALKS ABOUT
You’re qualified. You show up on time. You do it properly — the walks, the training, the sitting, the patience and skill that actually changes things. You learn, you adapt, you post, you reach out. You give every dog your best.
And still — the bookings don’t come. The phone stays quiet.
It doesn’t matter how good you are if nobody finds you. It doesn’t matter how much you know if the right people never call. You try new things, you shift what you’re doing, you put more hours in — and nothing moves.
Worst of all? The thought of walking away from this — of going back to that old job, the one you dreaded getting up for — makes you feel sick.
Then there’s the noise online. Post after post telling you "here’s how to do this, you need to do that" — and before you know it, you’re paying for tips, guides, courses, and more. Most of it costs money. Money you can’t really afford. And it all adds up.
Nobody can fill your diary but you. No payment, no scheme, no quick fix will do it for you. What will make the difference is offering things no one else does — the care, the understanding, the safe spaces, the patience that others skip. That’s what sets you apart.
You shouldn’t have to pay just to be seen. You shouldn’t have to dig deeper when you’re already stretched thin.

There are plenty of trainers, walkers and sitters out there doing great work, all wondering why it’s so hard to be seen. Being brilliant with dogs doesn’t mean clients will just turn up. The market is crowded, algorithms work against you, and building real, trusted business takes far longer than anyone tells you.
That sick feeling at the thought of going back? It’s not weakness — it’s knowing this work matters more. It’s knowing you can’t go back to something that never fit.
Don’t judge yourself by empty slots. And don’t feel you have to buy your way in. Keep showing up. Keep doing it your way — the way no one else does. The people who need your approach are looking for you — they just haven’t found you yet.
