Veterinary medicine is rewarding, but it can also be emotionally and mentally demanding. Long hours, compassion fatigue, difficult decisions, financial pressures, and the loss of patients can affect anyone in the veterinary community.
As a client, you may not always see what happens behind the scenes. So, when you visit your veterinary practice, a little understanding and kindness towards the team can make a big difference. Today, we would like to encourage everyone to look out for one another, check in when something doesn’t seem right, and make it okay to talk.
If you are struggling, you do not have to face it alone. Speaking with a colleague, loved one, mental health professional, or veterinary support service can be an important first step.
Your wellbeing matters—to your patients, your colleagues, your loved ones, and to you. Please reach out.
