It’s easy to think that because cats are siblings they won’t mate. Sadly it’s not true and because they become sexually mature even before 6 months of age, you can end up with kittens having kittens.

Don’t underestimate how important beds and resting areas are to cats. Feeling safe is super important to them, so any competition for the best beds where they can safely rest leads to trouble. Don’t force them to share, provide enough so they don’t feel like protective of them.

Kittens are hard wired to play and their littermates or perfect for it! When they come to your home without them, and find your older cat instead, your cat’s going to become the target - and they won’t be happy about it. Take the heat off by playing with your kitten and giving your cat space to be alone when they want to.

It’s normal for cats to take a dislike to kittens because their behaviour is so unpredictable. Cats need time and space and kittens need tons and tons of playtime!

It’s hard for adult cats to accept a kitten because they’re so full of beans and older cats usually just want a to be left alone. Kittens are playful and the older cat usually becomes the target. Don’t judge them for being annoyed at your kitten, help reinfect your kittens energy and give them time and space to develop a good relationship.

Have you got a naughty kitten?

🐱 I’m filming the pilot episode of a brand new YouTube series — and I’m looking for our first little troublemaker!

I’m looking for a family local to Hampshire, UK, with a kitten under 12 months old who is keeping them on their toes.

Maybe they’re biting, scratching, ambushing, climbing everything in sight, waking everyone up, or generally behaving like a tiny furry menace. 😂

For the pilot, I’ll be spending around one hour with the kitten and family, getting to know them, watching their behaviour and working out what’s really going on. I’ll then help the family find practical solutions they can put into place to help get them on track.

The visit will be filmed for my YouTube channel, so I’m looking for a family who would be comfortable being on camera and sharing their experience.
