Lovely Jack one of us local walkers very sadly passed away recently. Jack adored the dogs he cared for, and was always excited to get a new dog.

We are all deeply saddened by his passing 💔.

🎆🐾 Helping Your Pets Stay Calm During Fireworks Season 🐾🎆

Fireworks season can be a stressful time for our furry friends, but there are lots of little things we can do to help them feel safe and secure. ❤️

Here are some tips to help keep your pets calm:

🐶 Create a safe space – Set up a cosy, quiet area where your pet can retreat if they feel frightened. Include their favourite bed, blankets and toys.

🏡 Keep them indoors – Keep cats indoors and walk dogs before it gets dark. Make sure doors, windows and garden gates are secure to help prevent frightened pets from escaping.

🎵 Reduce the noise – Close windows and curtains, and try playing the TV or some calming music to help muffle the sound of fireworks.

🧸 Offer comfort and reassurance – Let your pet come to you for comfort if they need it. Stay calm and relaxed, and never punish them for being scared.

🦴 Keep them distracted – Offer favourite toys, enrichment activities or treats if they feel comfortable enough to engage.

💊 Speak to our vet team early – If your pet struggles with fireworks anxiety, please contact our vet team well in advance of fireworks season. We can discuss your pet’s individual needs and assess whether they may be a suitable candidate for medication to help reduce their anxiety. Some options need planning ahead, so please don’t leave it until the last minute!

❤️ Remember: Every pet is different, and what works for one may not work for another. A little preparation can make a big difference in helping your pet feel safer and more settled.
