Look at little Barney enjoying the legendary “sausage tree”.

We utilise sausage tree in all of our Puppy Conversations sessions to help calm things down when the play gets too intense and everyone needs a little break.

Teaching puppies how to regulate play is an important part of Puppy Conversations, so often they don’t take breaks themselves so we help them out by introducing breaks periodically throughout the session to stop things getting too heated and puppies learning not so good social skills.

If your puppy is under 18 weeks old and you’d like some guidance introducing them to other dogs then join us!

It. Is. Okay. To. Comfort. Your. Puppy.

I see a lot of information online about how comforting your puppy when they’re scared reinforces the idea that they should be scared.

This is not true and can hinder your puppies development.

Let me put it this way… if you were frightened of a spider in the corner and I reassured you that I would remove the spider for you would that make you more or less scared of the spider?

Puppies are the same, offering comfort does not make them more likely to be scared of something. In fact it makes them less likely to be scared because they are aware that you’ve got their back if they need it.

I will however concede that there is a big difference between offering comfort vs panicking with them. Reassurance should be calm and confident, not high pitched and frantic.

And on that note… if your puppy is about to get rushed by 4 happy go lucky labradors and you know they are going to be frightened by that… pick them up and get them out of there! This builds more confidence than forcing puppies to deal with scenarios they’re not ready for.

Confidence develops over gradual exposure not flooding.

Join us for a spooktacular session on 31st October at 10:30am (45 minutes).

Expect plenty of fun games, including:

• Apple bobbing
• Graveyard scent work
• Mummy wraps
• Trick or treating

Fancy dress is optional. If you'd like your dog to join in, please make sure they're comfortable wearing a costume before dressing them up. Humans are welcome to dress up too!

Your dog must be comfortable in a group setting to attend. Maximum of 8 spots!
