Meet Toby.

Now everyone I think knows how much I love a German shepherd!! (Although I didn’t love mine much after he ran through a smelly dirty bog today then tried to jump into the back seat of my car!!).

This old boy has arthritis in his knees and back, he’s doing really well in hydrotherapy at Richmond Canine Hydrotherapy Centre. So I’m using laser therapy and some manipulation to stimulate the nerves to help muscle function and aid with pain relief.

A day of large (horses & ponies), medium (dogs) and small (rabbit) yesterday, a nothing if not varied day!!!

Meet Muffin 🐇🐇🐇!

Muffin has been diagnosed with arthritis in his lower back, so after he settled on my lap I adjusted a few areas in his lumbar spine and neck. Then used the laser on his spine, to help with pain relief and increase blood flow. After treatment he gave himself a jolly good wash in the corner where he could keep an eye on me, obviously not too keen on my human touch!!!!!!

Meet Tyler.

This old man has had a pretty rough life until being rescued and is now living his best life being very well loved.

He has been having hydrotherapy at Richmond Canine Hydrotherapy Centre which has greatly improved his lower back and hip discomfort.

However, he’s struggling to keep his head out of the water when swimming. He has very little range of motion in his neck but I managed some little adjustments either side and will be seeing him again to see if I can increase his range of motion to get him swimming like a swan!!!

Or…………I will have to craft a snorkel for him!!!

Meet Sadie

Sadie has severe bilateral elbow dysplasia and a right hip dysfunction. Sadie also swims at Richmond Canine Hydrotherapy Centre, our aim is to try and keep her muscles functioning as well as they can to help support her arthritic joints.

She’s a funny sausage this one!! Maybe a bit too smart for her own good as she’s twigged that if she goes for a toilet break half way through treatment there will be treats waiting for her on her return!!

Here she is just chilling after her Chiro, craniosacral and laser treatment!!!!

Mr Bojangles!!!!!!!

A little update! He’s almost as big as mum Sylvie now!! He’s found his bray/squeak but is very shy and doesn’t want it caught on camera-I will keep trying!!!

Still a super cheeky chappy, driving his mum and ‘aunt’ crazy with his playing and jumping and biting!! He is almost 6months which means a little operation to be booked 🍒 and then weaning-I’m keeping both of these activities from him at the moment as I know he’s not going to like either!!!!!

Meet Daisy.

Daisy is a lovely girl who adores her younger brother Milo. Now younger brothers (as some know) can be quite annoying and want to play ALL the time and of course Daisy wants to oblige (which I witnessed, with my eyes half closed due to fear of her hurting herself further!!)!

Daisy like most older woofers has some discomfort and arthritis in her lower back, pelvis and limbs. So she is receiving Chiro to help keep her moving as optimally as we can.

Which in turn should help her catch her pesky brother to give him a good grooming-this job I may add, is taken VERY seriously indeed!!!

Meet Louis

Louis hurt himself trying to show the young ones on his walk that he’s ’still got it’ and can play like a puppy even though (shhhhhh he’s a senior woofer)!

I often say for the first appointment allow an hour so the animal to be treated gets used to me and allows me to treat them. After all it’s a bit weird having a stranger ‘prodding and poking’ you and I like to go at their speed.

No such issues with Louis!!! He came and practically sat on me as soon as I walked through the door and was like ‘yep come on, get on with it, I’m ready’!!! I think the smell of treats from my black bag helped though!!

Louis had lots of stiffness in his mid to lower back, so received gentle manipulation and some soft tissue work on those areas. Plus some advice from me to leave the youngsters on the park to it and act like the sophisticated gentleman that he is!!!

Meet Chaplin.

I’m in love!!! What a gorgeous character this cat has!! He was found with a broken left hind leg which required amputation, so the trusty laser was used over the scar to promote healing and help with inflammation. I also adjusted his right hip and sacrum.

He’s a determined boy by the sounds of it and likes to pull his stitches which is giving his fosterers from The Cat Welfare Group a few extra trips to the vet for some staples to keep the wound closed. It also sounds like he has a great skill in removing post surgical vests and collars!!!!!!!

A little unsure to start but the trusty lickie-licks won him over and as you can see after treatment, he found my sofa satisfactory enough for a wash, stretch, yawn and a lie down!!!!
