Dog Days Are Over

Dog Days Are Over The phrase "the dog days are over" signifies that a period of difficulty, hardship, or unpleasantness is ending.

It's a way of saying that a challenging time has passed and that things are about to get better.

After realising that Vegas did not have a down in his repertoire of behaviours I promised his owner that I would train it for her whilst on the group walks. I tried tirelessly to lure him into position with both food and toys. This is the number 1 go to method. We had absolutely no joy. Hundreds of failed attempts. Clawing and mouthing at my hand getting more and more frustrated and worked up because he couldn't access the goodies. So I did what I do best and adapted the training to help Vegas learn in quick time. The first video is the very first few repetitions using a lead to help produce the behaviour we are training filmed on a Friday morning. We completed around 20 repetitions only. The second video was filmed on the Monday morning so 72hours later with no further repetitions done. The boy only went and nailed it. Off lead with no idea I was about to ask for a down. I just threw in a little hand signal along side my verbal cue and wola. That fast that easy.

"Pixie Enough" is all it takes to stop the relentless barking. Obviously you must build up to this point through training. I can show you how. Simple, very effective training with no aversive tools used.

Producing a solid recall whilst casually walking a group of 5 dogs. Training Ted while the others remain completely engaged and neutral. Killing many birds with 1 stone. Dog walking should be fun and easy and so should dog training. I can show you how.

We absolutely loved having Ted join us for a group walk. Full of energy and soooo much fun Ted is a mixture of tenacious Terrier breeds that make him a perfect dog for me. I am a huge fan of Ted's and we look forward to seeing him again.
