Willows Veterinary Centre and Referral Service is a state-of-the-art veterinary practice located in Solihull, West Midlands. We provide top-quality care both for pets in the surrounding area and also for those referred to us by their own veterinary surgeons for specialist investigation and treatment. 🐾💚 Angel’s Journey Back on Her Feet 💚🐾

Meet Angel, a beautiful 3½-year-old crossbreed who suddenly became paraplegic, losing the ability to use her back legs.

Angel underwent spinal surgery at Willows before beginning an intensive rehabilitation programme with our Physiotherapy team. Over 12 days, she received frequent physiotherapy sessions alongside hydrotherapy and laser therapy, all helping her on her journey towards recovery. 🐶💪

Angel worked incredibly hard throughout her stay, and we're so proud of the progress she made! 🥰

💚🐾 The Great Willows Challenge is Coming to an End! 🐾💚

As August draws to a close, so does The Great Willows Challenge... and what an incredible month it has been! 🎉

With just a few days left to go, our amazing Willows team have:

🏃🚶🚴🏊 Smashed our 1,748 collective mile goal!
🌍 The equivalent of travelling from John O'Groats to Land's End and back
💚 Raised over £150 for Vetlife!

From running and cycling to walking, swimming and everything in between, we've loved seeing so many members of the Willows team get involved and help us reach this incredible milestone.

A huge thank you to everyone who has taken part, donated, cheered us on, and supported the challenge throughout August. 🥰🐾

🎓🐾 Meet Our New Student Veterinary Nurses! 🐾🎓

We're delighted to introduce four of our newest Student Veterinary Nurses here at Willows! 💚

All four have already been a valued part of the Willows team for several years, working as Patient Care Assistants and gaining invaluable experience caring for our patients.

Now, they're taking the next exciting step in their careers as they begin their journey towards becoming Registered Veterinary Nurses! 🩺🐶🐱

We're incredibly proud of everything they've achieved so far and can't wait to watch them develop their skills, knowledge and confidence over the coming years.

🌟 Please Join Us in Welcoming Catherine! 🌟

We’re delighted to welcome Catherine Tindale to the Willows team as our newest Soft Tissue Specialist! 🩺🐾

Catherine graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2017 before moving to North Devon, where she spent several years working in general practice and enjoying life by the sea. 🌊

She went on to complete her Surgical Residency and has now achieved the fantastic milestone of becoming a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2026. 🎓✨

Catherine joins our Soft Tissue Surgery team with an interest in all areas of soft tissue surgery, and we’re incredibly excited to have her expertise and enthusiasm as part of the team. 💚

Outside of work, Catherine can usually be found exploring the countryside with her beloved Clumber Spaniels. 🐶🌳

We are incredibly proud to celebrate a fantastic achievement by our Neurology Specialist, Dr Lluis Sanchez! 🎉💚

Lluis has recently contributed to the newly published veterinary internal medicine textbook on canine neurology, authoring Chapter 36: Neuropathies 🧠🐶📖

Having your work published in a specialist veterinary textbook is an incredible achievement and a testament to Lluis' extensive knowledge, experience, and dedication to advancing veterinary medicine and education.

We are incredibly proud to see the expertise of our Neurology team represented in such an important educational resource. Contributions like this help share specialist knowledge with veterinary professionals around the world and ultimately improve the care we can provide to our patients. 🌎🐾

🐾💚 Sybil’s Journey Back to Comfort 💚🐾

Meet Sybil, a beautiful Parson Russell Terrier who was referred to Willows following an old injury to her wrist, which had left her with ongoing forelimb lameness.

Our Orthopaedic Specialist Toby Gemmill performed X-rays which revealed severe damage and osteoarthritis affecting the joint. To help relieve her ongoing pain and restore the function of her limb, Sybil underwent a pancarpal arthrodesis, a procedure which fuses the wrist joint.

Eight weeks after surgery, Sybil has recovered beautifully and has continued to go from strength to strength! 🐶✨

Pancarpal arthrodesis aims to eliminate painful movement within a damaged wrist while allowing pets to regain excellent use of their limb. When successful, the procedure can give otherwise debilitated pets the opportunity to return to an active and happy life.

At Willows, our Orthopaedic team have been performing these procedures for several decades and have developed innovative techniques to help achieve the best possible outcomes for our patients 💚🐾
