🌱 We’re incredibly proud to be greener at 608! 🌱
Here at 608, we’re passionate about doing our very best for your pets — but we also recognise the importance of caring for the environment they share with us. 💚
We’re delighted to share that in 2026, 608 achieved the Investors in the Environment Green Award — the highest level of recognition available! 🏆🌍
This achievement reflects the hard work of our whole team, who have made real changes to reduce our carbon footprint and introduce greener ways of working.
♻️ Some of the changes we’ve made include:
• Reducing waste in theatre while maintaining our high standards of sterility, including introducing surgical tins and reusable drapes and gowns
• Making recycling a priority across all areas of our work
• Recycling soft plastics and paper waste from syringe and needle packaging
• Continually looking for new ways to reduce waste and use resources more responsibly
But sustainability isn’t just about what we do at 608 — there are lots of small changes pet owners can make at home too! 🐾🌱
Our Sustainability Lead, Nicola, shares some simple ways you can reduce your pet’s environmental pawprint:
🐶 Recycle pet food packaging
Did you know that many pet food pouches and bags can be recycled? We can collect your pet’s food packaging at our Solihull branch and send it off to be repurposed into something new. If you can’t make it to us, many local supermarkets also have soft-plastic recycling points.
🐱 Choose recycled or biodegradable cat litter where possible.
💩 Choose compostable poo bags to help reduce plastic waste.
🧸 Look for toys made from recycled or sustainable materials.
❤️ Keep your pet healthy. Maintaining a healthy weight and keeping vaccinations and parasite treatments up to date can help support your pet’s health and wellbeing throughout their life.
Every small change can make a difference. 🌎🐾
