Emily is a Student Veterinary Nurse (SVN) and has successfully completed her 3-month-work placement at Medivet Solihull.

Emily did a fantastic job while working with us. She became part of our team straight away and our lovely clients were so welcoming and supportive❤️

Emily impressed us all with her motivation, work ethic, compassion and skills.

We wish Emily the best of luck and we are looking forward to seeing her back✨️

Meet Saviour, the adorable 2-month-old Bernese Mountain puppy!!🐾

Saviour loved her first visit at our practice and handled the vaccinations like a total pro 🙌

She enjoyed the cuddles from our staff and of course... the plenty of treats she received 😉🥰

"Tasty snacks make everything better" especially when it comes to puppies🐾❤️

💌Fun fact:
Bernese Mountain dogs are often called "Gentle Giants"🫶
They grow into large, calm, and affectionate adult dogs and they are known for being very loyal and patient with people❤️

New collaboration with the The Garden House Rescue, Birmingham 🌸🐈🐾

The "Garden House Cat Rescue" is an Independent Charity run by amazing people that are helping cats and kittens in need🫶

Their aim is to give cats and kittens the life they deserve❤️

He came in for his 1st vaccinations yesterday.💉

He stayed so relaxed during the consultation that he almost fell asleep💤🥹

Frankie is such a sweet and calm little puppy. We can't wait to see him back in a few weeks ❤️✨️

⚠️Giant Hodgweed🌿

While many dog owners know about hot pavements and grass seeds, Giant Hogweed is another summer hazard worth watching out for.

Found along riverbanks, canal paths and areas of rough ground across West Midlands, its sap reacts with sunlight and can cause painful burns and blistering. While dogs' fur offers some protection, exposed areas such as noses, ears and paws can still be affected.

Giant Hogweed can be identified by:

🌿 Large white umbrella-shaped flowers
🌿 Thick stems with purple blotches
🌿 Huge jagged leaves
🌿 Height of up to 5 metres

If you think your dog has come into contact with Giant Hogweed:

🐾 Rinse the area with water
🐾 Keep them out of direct sunlight
🐾 Contact our team/your vet if you notice redness, swelling or discomfort

The effects of Giant Hogweed are caused by a photosensitive reaction, meaning signs may not appear immediately and can sometimes make diagnosis more challenging.

As you enjoy the countryside around Solihull this summer, it's worth keeping an eye out for this invasive plant and sticking to well-maintained paths where possible.
