On a warm day, the temperature inside a parked car can rise dangerously fast

‘Not long is too long. If you canʼt take them with you when you leave the car - leave them safely at home. Heatstroke is a veterinary emergency.

Symptoms include:
Heavy panting
Excessive salivation
Rapid heart rate
Bright red gums and tongue
Weakness, confusion or collapse

If you see a dog in distress in a hot car, first call 999, then seek veterinary advice urgently.
