I’ve been thinking all over the past week of how to write this post and what to say because I simply cannot find the right words to put. Last Friday evening I said good night and goodbye to my beautiful, amazing, kind, gentle, one of a kind dog and my best friend for over 12 and a half years Marmite aka Marmadogs.

It was a heartbreaking decision that I made for him rather than me, he was starting to show signs of being in pain and I’ve always said no matter what, I will never let my dogs suffer. I wanted to make sure that when he went he was still Marmite, my beautiful happy boy that just loved life and was very happy to tell you about it!

Everyone that had the pleasure of meeting Marmite and those who got to know him well all adored and loved him. He was just one of those dogs you could not help but love and if you tried to ignore him you would find his head through your legs, nearly taking you off your feet because he wasn’t one to be ignored!

I chose my boy at 3 weeks old or rather he chose me, he fell asleep in my lap and he stole my heart straight away, I visited him again at 5 weeks old and then took him home at 8 weeks old. He lived until he was 12 years 7 months and 13 days, I got to love him for all of his life from 3 weeks old and I’ll miss him for the rest of mine 💔

Marmite was such a big character and had such a big heart, I’ve never had a dog before that I could literally have a conversation with! It’s so quiet without him and it feels so empty without him at home 😢

He really did have the best life though, I gave up my job and started my business so I could spend more time with him and Leo before he was even a year old, I got to spend all my days with him and apart from the occasional deer chase or anything that moved in his younger years and literally lying in any puddle he could find (the muddier the better!), we had the best time together, with his big brother Leo and then his little brother Teddy and little sister Esme. Plus all the friends he made along the way in my business and recently had a new brother Oakley to love well maybe not love but he did accept he was here to stay!! He didn’t like sharing me so much but he allowed it most of the time without grumbling too much about it!!

We had amazing holidays to the Lake District and Scotland as well as day trips to the beach, which was his favourite place, he loved water, loved swimming and the beach made him so happy ❤️ he also loved climbing the mountains and climbed Englands highest mountain a couple of times among so many others.

He was just such a happy, loveable and loving boy who stole my heart the moment I met him and has definitely taken a bit of it with him. When he got diagnosed with the cancer I was truly devastated, I wanted him to just grow old without illness, something we all wish for with our dogs I’m sure. One thing I was certain of though was I wouldn’t let him suffer, I have had an amazing couple of people around me these last few months that have helped Marmite have a wonderful last few months of his life ❤️ I wanted to get him to Scotland for Christmas time and let him run and play on his favourite beach and to spend time at his 2nd home (my 2nd home too) and we got there ❤️ he had the best time too and despite what others had said he came back home with me and we had another 6 weeks together.

His last few days were filled full of the things he loved, hydrotherapy, squeaky latex toys, lovely walks, venison and lamb!! He was still Marmite, still happy, still talking to me about everything and still giving me all the love. That’s all I wanted for him, for him to go at the right time for him and not me, he started to tell me he was in pain so that was it.

He was at home with me, I held him in my arms, talked to him, reassured him and told him how much I loved him, it was peaceful for him and Teddy also got to say goodbye to his best friend too 🥰

He is up there now with his big brother Leo and getting to meet Ben and all my other beautiful pets I have lost along the way, I swear it gets harder the older you get though! I am so privileged and lucky to have been able to love him and have his love back and to have something so wonderful that it makes it so hard to say goodbye ❤️

So for now it’s goodbye, sleep well and I really hope that when it’s my turn that you’ll be there waiting for me 🌈🌈🌈 my heart hurts so much but you have left your paw prints 🐾 on my heart.

Always ❤️

❤️Marmite aka Marmadogs 1-7-13 to 13-2-26 ❤️

(I’ve been through over 12 and a half years of photos and there are so many! He really did have an amazing happy life and was always smiling ❤️ these are just a few of our memories together that I will always cherish ❤️ dogs teach us to be present in the now and to enjoy the little things ❤️❤️)

I know it’s a bit late but technically we are still in January! Happy new year everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and new year. Thank you to all my wonderful clients too for all my lovely cards and presents they mean so much to me.

The end of last year was hard, my eldest dog Marmite was diagnosed with bone cancer and I do not know how long we have left, we are taking it day by day and most importantly I got him to Scotland and to his favourite beach over the festive period. The smile on his face says it all ❤️ I know the start of 2026 is going to be hard for me but I want to thank you all again for your continued support and loyalty to me, I love looking after all of your pets and without you I could not live a life that I love, doing what I love ❤️❤️

Here’s to another year of fun, mud and dog cuddles 🥰 xx

My story for why I’m taking on the London Marathon. I’m so incredibly grateful for all the donations so far, I’m nearly halfway to my target which is incredible ♥️♥️ Please share and help me to get to my target ♥️♥️ and with sharing hopefully I can help someone else who is struggling too ♥️♥️

I am taking on this huge challenge, not only to prove to myself I can but also to give hope to all those who struggle and cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel and those who want to give up, to show and share with them that life is worth living no matter how hard things get.

In March 2021, I got to the darkest, loneliness place, where I could see no light and I thought everyone would be better off if I was not here. I tried to end my life, I never expected to wake up a week later in intensive care, my legs 4 times the size they were supposed to be, massive open wounds on each side of them, muscle had been removed from both legs. It was to be the start of a 3 month recovery journey in hospital and then years of pain and another operation on my foot in September 2023. I had to learn how to stand again and then walk again and at the moment I’m working towards learning how to run again… that’s why running the London marathon is going to be one hell of a challenge and journey! My physio thinks I’m crazy! I am determined to do this though.

I gave up in March 2021, but I will not give up again and the reason I am running it for Oxford Samaritans is because I’m the time after my su***de attempt, there was many times I felt so incredibly low and alone, hospital can be a very lonely place. I spoke to the Samaritans so many times in that period of my life, they listen without judgment, they never make you feel like a burden, something I’ve struggled with a lot with how I feel about myself. They are always there 24 hours a day. What they offer, I believe is life saving. I could not think of a better charity for myself to raise money for.

I hope by sharing my story, I can raise enough money to help even one person.

I will update with my training, I will be honest and give you the bad and the good as I take on this challenge! I know it’s not going to be easy but I am determined and every one that knows me knows I love pushing myself.

Before that March, I used to run a lot and I loved it, I feel like I’ve lost a part of me from the damage to my legs and I am excited to get that part of me back.

I hope you will all help me raise the money to be able to take part in this amazing race and personal journey and I thank each and every one of you for your donation, it means so much to me and I know it will be amazing for the Oxford Samaritans too.
