🐾🐶 WEEK 6 – AND JUST LIKE THAT, THEY’RE ALL GRADUATES! 🎓💕

How have these 6 weeks gone so quickly?! 🥹

It feels like only yesterday we were meeting all these gorgeous puppies for the very first time and now look at them! 🐾❤️

I’ve absolutely LOVED watching every single puppy grow in confidence, learn new skills and develop over the last 6 weeks. It’s incredible to see just how much they’ve all changed since that very first session and their families should be so proud of how far they’ve come! 🥰👏

For our final session, we focused on putting everything we’ve learnt over the last few weeks into practice, building on all those foundations and celebrating just how much progress everyone has made! 🐶🎓

It’s always a little bittersweet saying goodbye and I’m going to miss seeing these little faces every week! 🥹💕

But remember, this isn’t the end of your journey! Keep practising, keep having fun and keep building that special bond with your puppy. ❤️

I always love catching up with dogs I’ve worked with in the past and it’s been so lovely spending some time walking this dynamic duo over the past few days! 🐶🐶

🎂🐾 A BIRTHDAY SESSION FOR ZEUS! 🐾🎂

Another session with Zeus today — and today just so happened to be his birthday so of course, a special birthday gift was in order! 🎁💕

Today we retouched on his recall and lead work, before focusing on something just as important… social skills! 🐶🐶

We spent the session observing how Zeus copes when interacting with a dog who is confident enough to let him know when he’s being a little too over the top!

And he was SUCH a good boy! He did a fantastic job of reading Bella’s body language and most importantly, responding appropriately when she told him he needed to give her a little space 👏

It’s not just about letting dogs play — it’s about helping them understand when another dog wants to interact, when they need space and how to respond to those signals appropriately 🐾

Happy birthday Zeus! 🎂💙 You’re growing into such a clever boy! 🥰

🐾 WEEK 5! 🐾

How are we in week 5 already?! 😳

One more week and I’ll be sending all these lovely puppies off with all their newfound knowledge and I’m not sure I’m quite ready to say goodbye! 🥹💕

This week we focussed on recall and impulse control.

We practised our recalls, gradually increasing the distance between the cones and every single puppy absolutely smashed it! 🥰

They were even choosing to run past the other puppies and straight back to their families every time — which is absolutely brilliant! 👏🐶

🐾 Meet Wally! 🐾

Wally’s home first got in touch after a change in circumstances left him feeling more fearful of the unknown. This was making everyday walks more difficult, as well as visits from people to the home.

As Wally is an incredibly clever boy, we introduced more enrichment into his daily routine to give his brain a workout and provide plenty of opportunities for positive reinforcement. By incorporating these activities into his day, we aimed to help build his confidence and create more positive experiences.

We looked at the different factors in Wally’s everyday life that he was struggling with and worked on slowly building more positive associations with these, helping him to feel more comfortable and confident in situations that had previously worried him.

We also introduced hand targeting as it is a great tool that can be used for fun training games, to encourage him to think and to help build his confidence when exploring new places and situations 🐾

Wally is still a work in progress, particularly when it comes to barking for attention but progress doesn't happen overnight and every little step forward deserves to be celebrated.

By understanding what our dogs are communicating and giving them the right tools and support, we can help them feel more confident in the world around them.
Well done, Wally! Keep up the good work! 🐶👏

🐾 WEEK FOUR OF PUPPY CLASSES! 🐾

This week we focused on calm greetings when meeting people and the importance of teaching puppies to feel comfortable and confident with handling from an early age.

I brought along a selection of different grooming equipment and we practised getting the puppies used to these different tools in a positive and gradual way. I was also on hand to help everyone understand the body language to look out for and recognise when their puppy was comfortable, unsure or needed a little more space 🐾

For our socialisation part of the class, we had an adult dog come along and join us! It was so interesting for everyone to see how differently the puppies behaved when interacting with an adult dog compared with their puppy friends 🐕💕

🐾 MEET RIPLEY! 🐾

Ripley’s home got in touch looking for help with his lead reactivity towards other dogs. Due to his size and the intensity of his reactions, they were understandably feeling anxious and unsure of his intentions.

It became apparent that Ripley was actually an incredibly frustrated boy who simply wanted to say hello to EVERY dog he met! 🐶💕
Having had limited opportunities to interact with other dogs, Ripley can be a little intense with his greetings so we’ve been working on helping him develop his social skills.
Our sessions have focused on teaching his family how to read both Ripley’s body language and that of the dogs he meets, recognising when interactions are going well and when they might need to step in and give him a helping hand.
We’ve also been introducing a greeting cue so Ripley can learn that he doesn't get to say hello to every dog he sees, helping him understand when he’s allowed to interact and when it’s time to walk on.

Not every dog barking and lunging on the lead has bad intentions. Sometimes, frustration and excitement are the driving forces behind those big reactions!

Working with Ripley has been an absolute pleasure and I’ve loved watching him interact with other dogs and seeing everyone grow in confidence.
