🐕 Dog Training Tip: Mastering Recall
A reliable recall makes walks so much more enjoyable. Here’s a simple way to start building it:
🍗Make it worth their while
When your dog comes to you, make a huge deal out of it — treats, fuss, play… whatever they love most. You want them thinking, “Coming back is absolutely amazing!”
📏Start small then build up
Practice in the house first, progressing to the garden and then to a quiet area on a walk. Gradually add distance and distractions as they improve.
🚫 Never punish after recall
If your dog finally comes back, don’t tell them off — even if they took their time. You want them to always feel safe returning to you.
🔁 Practice often, keep it fun
Short, positive sessions work best. Call them randomly throughout the day and reward when they come to you.
Consistency is key — with time, your dog will come running every time you call! 🐾
