Summer can be a lovely time for this job but it can also be very stressful & worrying especially when we get heatwaves like this scorcher ☀️
We all love the sun but we can all agree this is a lot for us to cope with in the UK with no aircon & with our animals particularly suffering the most!
It is not just the worry of them overheating that comes with this job its the hours of contacting customers, reorganising our diaries many times, the financial worry of not having work on, constantly checking the weather, making sure all needs are met to ensure pets & pet owners are happy. Making sure we are hydrated, fed & ok too.
So thank you to all my customers for being so good & understanding at this time. Early walks & garden visits have been done to keep us all safe. Its all we can do in times like these! It may sound extreme to some but no - it is life threatening & this job is so much more than dog walking & playing with animals. We are in charge of lives - the most important lives in many families - our pets hold us all together when times get tough & bring us all so much joy! We also wear MANY hats, never truly switching off, always something to do with admin piling up in the background.
So please be kind to your pet care providers & please don't be like the silly humans I saw in town in 30° heat walking their poodle in socks. Its all terribly stupid & quite frankly selfish to be putting your animals through such conditions.
