The ‘Protect Your Pets - Say No to Harmful Positive Lists’ petition is about the future of fishkeeping in the UK.

It responds to proposals that would introduce a ‘positive list’ system. This would limit which species can be legally kept, sold, or traded.

According to the Ornamental Aquatic Trade Association, this approach could:

• Reduce the number of species available to a very small list
• Exclude commonly kept fish due to lack of data, not risk
• Create new welfare challenges rather than solving them
• Increase pressure on responsible fishkeepers and aquatic businesses
The petition helps show policymakers how many people this would affect.

We currently have some great examples of beautiful larger ranchu’s in stock 🐟🤩🤩

Fancy goldfish are fishes that inhabit a world of contrasts. At one extreme, they’re a novelty widely considered as pets for children and we seem to spend much of our time pointing out to parents just how unsuitable they are for small tanks. At the other end of the scale (pardon the pun) they’re prized examples of many generations of selection by dedicated breeders. These Calico ranchu were big, impressive fish for serious keepers that appreciate their charms and have the facilities to do them justice. Recently seen at our Wenvoe store.
