Dog A.I.D. (Assistance In Disability) Please support our life-changing work by donating via Just Giving - https://www.justgiving.com/charity/dogaid

The main difference between Dog AID and many other assistance groups is that the disabled owner learns how to train their own dog. Generally all the training is carried out by the owner with supervision from a specially trained instructor. Dog AID training is designed to give a measure of independence and provide owners with the knowledge to train other tasks. This allows them to adapt the training to their own needs with an instructor who is able to give advice as required

Thank you so much to our incredible community of supporters.

Every donation we receive matters, whether it's a one-off gift or a monthly direct debit. Regular gifts are especially valuable, as they help us plan ahead with confidence.

We receive no government funding and all of our trainers are volunteers who generously give their time to support each Assistance Dog partnership. Your kindness makes everything we do possible.

If you feel able to support our life changing work by way of a one-off gift or a regular monthly amount, please visit our website https://dogaid.org.uk/donate-to-dog-a-i-d

Thank you so much, your support means so much to our partnerships.

🌟 Sunday Spotlight 🌟

One of the things we love most is celebrating our incredible Assistance Dogs and the amazing people they support every single day.

From Labradors and Golden Retrievers to Spaniels, Collies, Poodles, mixed breeds, and many more, our Assistance Dogs come in all shapes, sizes, and personalities. Each and every one is trained to provide support that's as unique as the person they help.

Our dogs perform an incredible variety of tasks, including:
🐾 Retrieving dropped items
🐾 Opening and closing doors
🐾 Assisting with dressing and daily living

Every Assistance Dog has a different story, a different role, and a life-changing impact. They give their humans confidence, independence and companionship. That's why our Sunday Spotlight is dedicated to showcasing the wonderful diversity of our Assistance Dog partnerships.

Follow along each week as we introduce more of our amazing dogs, celebrate their achievements, and share the difference they make in the lives of their disabled owners. ❤️🐕

🐾 Assistance Dogs come in all shapes and sizes! 🐾

Meet Ralph and Layla — two Assistance Dogs who may look very different, but have something very important in common: they’re the same age and both make an incredible difference to the lives of the people they support. ❤️

Ralph is a magnificent Bernese Mountain Dog weighing in at a whopping 65kg! 🐻

Layla, meanwhile, is a petite Cavapoo at just 6.4kg! 🐶

That’s a difference of more than 58kg — but when it comes to being an amazing Assistance Dog, size really doesn’t matter.

From big paws to little paws, Assistance Dogs come in all shapes, sizes and breeds. What matters is the incredible bond they share with their handlers and the life-changing support they provide every day. 🦮💙

Big or small, every Assistance Dog is pawsome! 🐾

🐾🌊 Bracken’s Devon adventure! 🌊🐾

Bracken has been having an absolutely amazing time on holiday with his mum in beautiful Devon! 💙

He even met donkeys for the very first time! 🫏 You might expect a dog to be fascinated by these new friends…but Bracken had other priorities! 😂 His nose was far more interested in all the exciting smells on the ground than the animals themselves! 🐶👃

While Assistance Dogs do an incredibly important job supporting their people, it’s just as important that they get plenty of downtime, fun and time to simply be dogs too. Holidays are a wonderful opportunity for Assistance Dogs to relax, explore new places, enjoy new experiences and have some well-deserved fun.

Because even the hardest-working assistance dogs deserve a little holiday of their own! 🐾☀️

September was another busy month for Dog A.I.D. assessments!!🎉🎉

We have had 3 successful annual assessments this month which is the best news. 3 partnerships that have kept on top of their training maintaining the high standards required to pass the yearly assessment - well done!

We are so proud of each and every one of you - we know how much hard work and dedication goes into them. Thank you also to our phenomenal team of volunteer trainers and assessors, without you, we simply couldn't do our life changing work.

Well done everyone 🎉🐾

💚Today is World Mental Health Day 💚

This World Mental Health Day, let’s talk, listen, and support better mental health together.

World Mental Health Day takes place every year on 10 October.

It reminds us why good mental health is so important, and how we can prioritise it in our lives and communities. It’s also a moment to talk openly and listen to what others are experiencing.

The theme for 2026 is “Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change” (World Federation for Mental Health).

Conversations about mental health make a difference. And they matter most when we listen to people’s experiences.

🐾 The life of an Assistance Dog can be so wonderfully varied!

Here are some pictures of Bear supporting his Mum in many different ways. 💙

He’s pictured travelling on a train and enjoying a well-deserved day off at an event. 🐶✨

Being an Assistance Dog isn’t just about the important work they do. It’s also about being there through everyday life, helping their person feel more confident and independent, and sharing in all sorts of experiences along the way.

And when the working day is done, there’s nothing better than a little time to relax and enjoy being a dog! 🐾💙
