Out of office!

After a wet day yesterday (I know we needed rain but, well, it really did rain didn’t it!?!), I’m now off to Folkfest and then on leave for a week 🙂

What a fantastic set of trails today! In a fabulous location! The sun was shining (not too much 😂) and we were all at to explore.

First up we had Team Jasper. This team did their first ever pet trail! Jasper merely sniffed where Billy had sat and follow his trail round the ruins to find Billy! You wouldn’t have known I’d even added any difficulties, Jasper breezed the trails with ease. He was so confident, which is lovely to see!

Next up we had Team Buddy. This team have been dealing with some health problems but you wouldn’t have known Buddy had even had a break. He managed to problem solve finding a way to his lost person when the route was inaccessible and ended up going through a window in the ruins to find them! A real pleasure to trail with you today 💓

Team Billy enjoyed the new environment and their second trail especially was fantastic! A complicated trail by its shape, didn’t phase Billy one bit and we had Buddy hidden for him in a crypt below ground level! Billy enjoyed figuring out exactly where Buddy was located!

Team Hector was last but, by no means least. He has also had a little break from trailing and a new location was very exciting! He took this in his stride and confidently navigated through a gate and round to find his lost dog. He didn’t bark, just wanted his trailing treat, which was lovely to see. A really confident set of trails and very accurate.

It was a really lovely morning and we all thoroughly enjoyed it! Trails are available for September if you’d like to join us! All levels welcome.

What a fantastic trailing session we had on Monday evening! We had a new location and that meant new terrains and new spaces to explore! Plus, we had a beginners pet and man trailing assessment!

Team Tia kicked us off. Hot off the success of passing their beginners trailing assessments last time, they were on fire! We tested Tia with some open spaces, which didn’t phase her at all. She sniffed the ground where Billy had sat for a few seconds and successfully navigated an open park to find him! She was brilliant! She did wonder about taking her owner on a little shortcut over the mere, but found her way around the water instead 😂 very hard for a water-obsessed spaniel, but brilliant to see she retained focus to find her lost person despite such a high temptation of a dive!

Team Flint had their pet and man trailing assessments and smashed them! This team have grown so much and are navigating through adolescence, which carries a lot of big feelings. Flint can find other dogs distracting but he is now so quick to refocus back on his trail - and his second trail had pushbikes and dogs to navigate. He was superb and I’m so proud of his journey! What’s also lovely to see is the time his owner takes to allow him to process and work things out. We can often feel pressed to rush our dogs but this owner never dogs, which gives Flint the space he needs and a reason why they are such a brilliant team!

Team Billy are on fire at the moment! The motivation is high and it’s lovely to see. Billy worked on open spaces, which is something that he has struggled with - not that you’d know today! He went accurately across the open spaces and then around the mere to find his lost dog and person. His owner is so attentive at going with him and helping him keep moving if he does get stuck and he did wonderfully today! Really successful, especially at the open spaces!

Well done Flint and Ruth for passing their beginners man and pet trailing today! It’s been a pleasure to watch both of you grow, from when Flint joined us at around 5 months old!

Ruth is so patient with Flint, giving him time to think and work through distractions and difficulties. This boy can struggle with big feelings but he now focuses on his trail so well and so quickly, he is a superstar!

Do you want to trail in this lovely location? I can’t promise it’ll be snowing in August but we still have space for our trailing session next Sunday!

Perfect for beginners and something new for those who haven’t trailed here before! Lots of great places to hide.

Using the scent of a ‘lost’ dog or person, the dogs follow a trail to find them! It’s great fun for all dogs. This is also a great location for dogs who are reactive or a bit anxious. Dogs who love sniffing will also love this, whether they’re working dogs or not!

Fun in the shade and a wake up for me at 5:45am!
This boy’s recall was on fire around other dogs and even a rabbit! Such a good boy.
Then a rest after the early starts!

When you’re a brilliant boy on a walk early Wednesday morning!
This boy struggles a lot with reactivity and anxiety and, on top of this, he’s moving house! This morning he was able to enjoy a sniffy walk in the woodland - his favourite place to wander - and, with space, he really successfully passed a few other dogs. Well done 👏🏼

On Saturday, this little lady had been with me a whole year!
Time flies by!

She’s come on so much. Still struggling with anxiety, the world being a quite a lot and we’re working on her skin issues, but what a brave girl she is now! She loves her snuffle ball and mat, which she’s now confident to have a go at. She loves her walks, snuggle bed (even in a heatwave!), cuddles, treats… she’s the sweetest little girl 💓
