Another Great Day!
So today I spent a day with Malthouse Vets, Minsterley
As a Registered Vet Nurse a days work for me can be a mixture of surgeries, consults, working alongside the vet surgeons, giving advice, blood sampling and of course caring for the patients
As an example I'm going to talk about the care involved when a patient is admitted for a 'routine surgery' cat spay procedure which is an ovariohysterectomy. (Removal of uterus and ovaries)
From start to finish the pet is handled with care and monitored taking an initial examination and recording heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and ECG
The pet is prepared for surgery in a sterile manner, we use intravenous catheterisation, the equipment we use is really specialist to allow us to care for your pets to the best of our ability, we administer up to date drugs and anaesthetic, the profession is always changing and improving and as veterinary professionals we are always looking to improve care due to our passion to make things better for our patients
My little business is still relatively new to me, having started up 6 years ago as a self employed locum nurse. My focus at home is often to provide advice and pet grooming but I always make sure I keep up my cliniocal work in practice. I'm always learning and striving to improve because the animals I meet are always teaching me - I wanted to reflect and write up a little bit about Malthouse because I think it's important to share what a good job they do. They are a reasonably small independent practice in a rural location, the care they provide is fantastic and the kit available to be able to treat sick animals is really impressive too, its general practice at an extremely high standard ❤️
