Smallholders, don’t forget your goats’ vaccinations! 🐐💉

Vet Storm was recently called out to see two goat kids with a matching pair of hoof lacerations!
Both youngsters were given pain relief and antibiotics, had their wounds bandaged, and then received their booster, Heptavac P Plus, which helps protect against several clostridial diseases, including tetanus.

This is a timely reminder to keep on top of your herd’s vaccination programme. Goats should receive their routine booster vaccinations every 6 months, in line with veterinary advice and the product guidance.

Tetanus can be a serious risk when wounds occur, so keeping vaccinations up to date is an important part of protecting your goats.

✅ Check your vaccination records
✅ Make sure boosters are due at the right time
✅ Speak to your vet if you’re unsure about your herd’s cover

A few weeks ago, Vet Rob and Vet Storm visited this lovely cow to perform an eye enucleation🐮👁️

The first photo shows her before surgery, followed by how she looked immediately after the procedure, and finally her progress two weeks into healing.

It’s fantastic to see how well she has recovered, with the surgical site healing beautifully. Enucleation can be a great option when an eye is causing ongoing pain or is no longer viable, allowing the animal to be comfortable and get back to normal life.

A brilliant result and another happy, comfortable cow!
