*** 1 SLOT OPEN ***
** After meeting with a client due to attend this session a space has become available due to them not been suitable for this type of class.
Nothing against the dog it is just very anxious and I feel even this would too over whelming for them so they wouldn't get what they need out of it. They have however booked in for individual training sessions for their pooch so all will work out in the end π©·
2 spaces remaining on our first neutrality walking session!
When: Wednesday 3rd June
Where: Concord Park Lower Car Park, S5 0TT
What: A "neutrality dog walk" is a structured training method where dogs walk near one another but are taught not to interact, sniff, or play with each other. The primary goal is to help dogsβespecially reactive or anxious onesβlearn emotional regulation so they can remain calm and focused on their handler in the presence of distractions.
Of course every dog is different, thats why the groups are kept small, to make sure everyone has the space they need but also to get maximum benefit from the session. I'll be moving around you all giving advice and pointers on dog body language, what & when to reward, lead control, distances and more.
I believe teaching a dog to be neutral is one of the best "tools" they can learn. Yes, seeing dogs running & playing together is great but isn't necessarily needed. YOU are all the dog needs at the end of the day and if your pooch is happy to trot past other dogs and not react, lunge or bark (whether friendly or not) thats the winner π
And of course once your dog knows how to be neutral there's no reason they can't interact with other dogs, but, a neutral dog is calmer, easier and more enjoyable to be around
Sessions will last around 1.5 - 2 hours in total, start time to be confirmed π
