Horses thrive on a varied forage-based diet - and increasing variety in the diet is much easier than you may think!

You can increase variety by supplementing the hay or haylage ration with forage Brix. We have Timothy grass, sainfoin and lucerne options available - depending on the individual nutritional needs of your horse. These 1kg forage blocks are ideal for easy-portioning and they are great for keeping horses occupied too!

By selecting a different base forage for their pellet, chop and balancer, e.g choosing a sainfoin pellet, a grass chop and a lucerne-based balancer, you are supporting a varied diet.
You can even take it further still by utilising a mixed forage feed, such as our Meadow Forage Pellets - five forage species, grown together in the field to mimic varied pasture.

When reseeding consider using a more diverse seed mix that contains not just grass, but also legumes and herbs.
When creating turnout spaces make use of natural hedgerows or even establish new ones; create a safe boundary but do not cut off access entirely so that horses can nibble on the bushes and trees available (ensuring they are non-toxic first).
