It doesn't matter if there is shade - the air is still hot!! Please, please do not put your pets lives at risk. Even 7pm is still too hot for dogs at the moment.

Try some other enrichment activities with them, play in the house. They won't die from missing a walk 🐾❤️

Our team have been hard at it this morning allowing our pooches to have their outdoor socialising and enrichment nice and early! 🌞🫶 And prepping lots of frozen goodies for everyone until we can get them out again later when it's cooled off! 😁💛💙

We wanted to remind you all to be so very careful out there while we have our little heatwave! 🌞🫶

We say it so many times throughout the summer months but we still see so many posts and hear stories from vets of animals with heat stroke.

Heat stroke is DEADLY. Your dog will not die from missing a midday walk but they may if you walk them. 💔 And your cats! Where possible keep them indoors during the peak heat! With little shade, hot tarmac and not alot of water sources this kind of heat is dangerous for them too! Not alot of people think of cats struggling but with the temperatures predicted we know they will!

- Avoid peak heat times! Walkies early in the morning and late in the evening are best! 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️
- Plenty of cooling measures available to your dogs AND cats! Cooling mats, cooling bandanas - close the curtains in one room to create shade and a cooler room... paddling pools, no unsupervised garden time, frozen kongs or licki mats, plenty of fresh cool water... there's so many fun cooling ideas out there! 🥰
- Where possible, even when avoiding peak heat go for a walk where there's shaded areas and ideally rural - avoid street walking to reduce the risk of burning your dogs pads- concrete can and does hold onto heat very well! 😔
- Absolutely do not leave your dog or cat in a hot car.💔 You can loose them in minutes 💔
- Pop suncream on those light ears and noses! Just like us, especially lighter animals- they can burn without being in direct sunlight. 🌞
- Be the fun police if you have to! 👮‍♂️👮‍♀️ Don't let your pooch play excessively while in the heat - find them something calming to do with their brain instead! (Stuffed kong, treat balls, puzzle feeders, destruction boxes etc) 👌 and keep your cat indoors and entertained.
- Check your gardens and fencing before allowing your dog to have a short toilet break - the LAST thing you want is your dog getting loose and running in the heat!!!! 😭

Here are the common signs of heatstroke (as provided by our wonderful friends down at the PDSA):
⚠️ Excessive panting and salivating
⚠️ Drowsiness/Lethargy
⚠️ Collapsing/Weakness
⚠️ Vomitting/Diarrohea
⚠️ Bright red tongue
⚠️ Pale gums
⚠️ Excessive thirst (Dehydration)

Pets at a higher risk of heat stroke are:
🐾 Puppies/Kittens
🐾 Elderly
🐾 Obese
🐾 Heart/Respiratory conditions
🐾 Short-nosed breeds (Bulldogs, Frenchies, Pugs, Persians etc)

If you are concerned that your pet has heat stroke, please don't delay in getting them to a vet as soon as possible 🚑

This is the heartbreaking story of Alison, a sweet and innocent soul who has suffered more than any animal should ever have to endure. When she was found, she was in a pitiful condition—her body frail and her spirit broken. She was limping terribly, barely able to walk, with a paw so swollen and full of infection that people feared she had been hit by a car.

But the truth was even more tragic: Alison had been attacked by another animal, and the infection in her paw had become life-threatening. The vet told us that if we had not taken her in when we did, she would have lost her paw entirely. Thanks to your continued support, we managed to save her leg—but Alison's fight is far from over. 🌸

She is still very weak, extremely underweight, and too fragile to undergo the neutering surgery she desperately needs. Our priority now is to build her strength and help her heal, but the costs for her treatment are quickly adding up. Good to know! Fake webs for indoors only 🕸️🕷️

Hi All Happy Weekend Everyone.
I came across this interesting poster,regarding the halloween garden decorations like this fake webbing.
Please keep off the ground as hedgehogs will get tangled in it,and once its wrapped around one it could be another death trap for our prickly friends and other animals and birds and cause serious injuries and even death.
Please just be aware of our wildlife and keep them safe.
