Teaching a dog tunnel confidence (in this case, an adolescent one!) takes patience, but breaking it down makes it easy! 🐾

Here is how to get started:

1️⃣ I have used the rigid section of a collapsible tunnel here. (The collapsible tunnel was banned in KC Agility a decade ago now, so our former collapsible tunnel has been re-purposed!)
2️⃣ Use a helper: Have someone hold your dog at one end while you stand at the exit with high-value treats or a favorite toy.
I was on my own, but if you can enlist a helper - brilliant! As you can see in the video, I used a 'breadcrumb trail' technique to encourage a nervous Scratch through the tunnel.
3️⃣ Build the drive: Call your dog through the short tunnel. Reward them generously the second they exit.
4️⃣ Using a toy should build drive. In this video, Scratch has yet to learn impulse control with toys. One step at a time, people!! 😉

Great day yesterday with 3 separate terrier 121s in 1 day,
2 Borders and a Westie.
