Did you know cats stretch out when they're warm to expose more skin and fur to the air to help keep them cooler? This is exactly what Elle's cats are doing on this picture from last night! 🐾🐈

With the temperature continuing to remain warm this week, we'd like to remind pet owners to take extra care in the heat. Our furry friends can quickly become unwell, so here are some simple ways to keep them as comfortable as possible:

💧 Fresh water to always be available.
🐕 Walk dogs earlier in the morning or later in the evening, only if cool enough. Sometimes it is not worth the risk and walks can be missed.
😎Provide cool shaded areas, with cooling mats and fans if possible.
👀Monitor your pets outside, especially if they are going into direct sunlight.
🥵Do not leave pets in a conservatory, as with heat these can turn into greenhouses!
🐰Move hutches into shaded areas.

The most important thing to look out for in the warm weather is signs of heatstroke. These can include:
🔥Excessive breathing/panting.
🔥Heavy drooling.
🔥Behavioural changes including restlessness, agitation and inability to settle.
🔥Stumbling and disorientation.
🔥Vomiting & Diarrhoea.
🔥Collapsing or seizures.

If you suspect your pet has heat stroke this is classed as an emergency and you need to contact a vet IMMEDIATELY!

Brave Biscuit ❤

A couple of weeks ago, 12 and a half year old Biscuit came in for surgery to have a lump removed. This brave boy did wonderfully throughout his procedure and is now recovering comfortably with plenty of love and care. Here he is with Ashleigh & Annabelle showing off his Bravery Award 🥳.
