RECOVERS 🏥

Congratulations to our incredible RVNs 🥳Wendy, Bethany, Olivia and Kayley who have just successfully competed their RECOVER course in cardiopulmonary arrest (CPR) ‼️

This advanced training follows the highest evidence based guidelines, to equip our team to respond rapidly and effectively during critical emergencies. 🚨

From CPR techniques, airway management, ECGs, drug administration and more. Their dedication to learn means your beloved companions are always in the safest hands possible. 🐾

This event was hosted by our wonderful RVN Ashleigh, who is a trainer recover instructor. Who put them through their paces in a practical training day.

🌾It’s Grass Blade Season 🌾

Clover recently visited us after presenting with vomiting and on going gagging. After further investigations under general anaesthetic, the cause of the problem was found ! A large grass blade was removed from her Pharynx. Something so small can make a huge impact to your pet 🌾

These crafty grass blades can get stuck in your pet’s throat, paws and limbs, symptoms can include:
* Drooling
* Gagging or retching
* Vomiting
* Sneezing
* Chewing or excessive licking of paws
* Limping

Clover was feeling immediate relief and even enjoyed her dinner in her favourite dining spot 🐈‍⬛

🐾 Meet the Team 🐾

Meet our lovely Vet Tara, who graduated in 2020 as an MRCVS at the University of Nottingham (BVM, BVS Bvet-medisci).

Tara has worked at a range of mixed animal practices before concentrating on small animal medicine.

She has a keen interest in ultrasonography and is undertaking an extra certificate in diagnostic imaging. Tara also loves having a mixture of species and varied caseload of surgery and medicine 💊

Off duty she enjoys spending time with her husband, keeping fit, and taking care of her 2 cats and guinea pigs 🐈 🐹

Please show Tara a warm welcome, she can’t wait to meet all of our lovely clients and companions ☺️

Feline Vaccinations 💉

This precious boy came in for his second vaccine. He was purrfectt for our RVN Olivia who showered him in plenty of lick-e-lix ✨

Vaccines are classed as preventative care. In cats, if kept up to date they reduce the risk of:
- Feline Herpesvirus (cat flu)
- Feline Calicivirus (cat flu)
- Feline Panleukopenia virus (feline infectious enteritis)
- Feline Leukaemia Virus (FeLV)

Kitten’s vaccine plan:
1st vaccine: 6-8 weeks of age
2nd vaccine: 4 weeks later
3rd vaccine: 4 weeks later
4th vaccine: 6 months of age 2nd
Boosters: annually every year ☺️

As your pets get older so does their body. Peak Vets offers a canine tailored senior pet clinic to check their overall health with one of our amazing nurses:

What’s included ?
- A Urinalysis
- A Blood sample to test to check 🩸
* Liver function
* Kidney function
* Red blood count
- Blood pressure measurement to check for
* Hypertension
* Hypotension
- Muscle condition scoring
- Body condition scoring
- Advice on supporting your pets in their senior years which can include.
* Suitable orthopaedic bedding

Every appointment slot can save, improve and promote a pet’s life, which is why showing up for procedure slots is so important. A missed procedure slot could be given to another pet 😢.

Our clinic requires a 50% deposit for all procedures to be booked in.
