Moira kindly asks that anyone attending Alan’s funeral, on Thursday 26th February 10am, to arrive and be seated by 9.45am.

With regards parking, please note that the funeral mass could last more than an hour.

A gentle reminder that due to limited capacity at the graveyard this part of the funeral is for family and close friends, with all welcome to attend Wortley Club, S35 7DB.

Wake details for Alan

After the ceremony, anyone not coming to the burial is invited to meet at the Wortley club, the venue will be open from 11:30am. Tea, coffee and food will be available, and a well stocked bar should you wish to raise a glass.

His wishes were to have a Catholic funeral and a Catholic burial, with that in mind it will be done at Holy Rood Catholic church in Barnsley.

The ceremony will begin at 10am on the 26th February 2026. Please allow good time to get parked and await the arrival of Alan.
Please note everyone who wishes to attend are all welcome to do so, to celebrate the life and spirit of Alan.

On Saturday 31st January 2026, we sadly lost a bright light of Commonside, a loving husband, friend and a beating heart of our local community. Alan Wadge has sadly passed away at the age of 66.
Alan was well known around our sides, not just as the local dog groomer but a colourful character with stories for absolute days.
With that being said, the shop will be closed until further notice, but anyone directly affected will be called/messaged. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause regarding any appointments and cancellations, as I navigate the next steps going forward.
Thank you for the out pouring of love, it hasn’t gone unnoticed and much appreciated.
