Putting your dog in a kennel for two weeks, giving them MAYBE A walk a day and sending them home isnāt residential training.
Thatās boarding.
And thereās nothing wrong with boarding if you simply need somewhere for your dog to stay.
But if your dog is reactive, pulling on the lead, has poor recall, lacks boundaries, struggles around people or dogs, or simply has no real obedienceā¦
boarding isnāt going to fix that. Itās often likely to make it worse!
When I take a dog for residential training, they donāt come here for a holiday.
They come here to work.
They live within a structured environment where training happens throughout the day ā obedience, boundaries, recall, lead work, impulse control, engagement, neutrality and real-world exposure. BUTā¦. They also get cuddles, love, playtime, live in my house, with 3 kids, 3 dogs and all the chaos that goes with it š Zero kennel time
And this is also why you should look at the cost differently.
Yes, residential training costs more than putting your dog into boarding.
With boarding, youāre paying someone to kennel your dog.
With residential training, youāre paying for my time, experience, knowledge and the work I put into changing your dogās behaviour.
And despite that, I deliberately keep my residential training more affordable than many comparable trainers offering the same level of service.
I want professional residential training to be accessible to more owners ā without cutting corners on the work your dog receives.
So no, youāre not paying for your dog to have a bed, food and a few walks.
Youāre investing in changing the way your dog behaves and giving yourself the tools to maintain that change when they come home.
I currently have a limited number of residential training spaces available.
