The Asian aviary is now complete! 🌳

Come and see our newest arrivals: a trio of Emerald Doves living alongside our breeding pair of critically endangered Vietnamese Pheasants, Tuan and Linh.

The aviary has been designed to mimic an Asian forest where both of these beautiful species would be found in the wild, with the hope of encouraging our Vietnamese Pheasants to breed and raise chicks in the near future.

The new aviary is located in the woodland opposite our reindeer enclosure.

Our Yellow-Crowned Bishop Weavers are out enjoying the sunshine! ☀️

Did you know? These birds are sexually dimorphic during breeding season, meaning males and females look different. While females remain brown, males develop striking yellow and black plumage to attract mates.

We can now reveal 5 little secrets we have been keeping. Our prairie dogs (Hank and Betty) have become parents for the first time after 9 years living together - obviously waiting for the right time in their relationship. All five little girls are doing really well and have had a detailed health check. They will soon start to venture out to see the outside world.

NEW DEVELOPMENT! 🚧

Several new enclosures are being built across the zoo, and this one is nearly complete! 🪚

If you’ve visited recently, you may have seen a pair of Vietnamese pheasants near the tortoises. The pair have been settling in well in their temporary enclosure but will soon move to a spacious woodland aviary. 🌳

We hope these critically endangered birds—believed by some to be extinct in the wild—will thrive and successfully raise chicks in their new home. 🪺
