Another lovely trial at Unstone yesterday as we hosted our Level 1 Nosework Games. 🐾

We welcomed seven fantastic teams who sniffed their way through the games. It was a close competition, with almost all of the teams performing at a very similar level. The top placings were separated by just one point, showing how evenly matched everyone was.

It was great to welcome a team taking part in their very first Nosework Games. Although new to our games, they are experienced scentwork competitors and put in a great performance.

We also had a team just beginning their trialling journey, and they did exceptionally well. Their enthusiasm, teamwork, and potential were wonderful to see. With a little more trial experience, we're sure they'll be collecting rosettes before long!

What a lovely day for our Nosework Games Level 2 in Unstone! 🐾

It turned out a little warmer than forecast, but thankfully there was plenty of shade to keep both our handlers and dogs comfortable throughout the morning.

Although we had a small group of competitors, everyone put in some fantastic performances, sniffing their way through All Clear, Go To Source, and Snake. Best of all, every team went home with at least one rosette! 🏵️

In just two weeks' time, we'll be holding our Nosework Games Level 2 Competition.

Games for Sunday 12th of July - All Clear, Go To Source and Snake
Level 2 -On The Way Up
Target Odour - Cloves

A reminder that you can compete in Nosework Games at Levels 1–3 without having to progress through each level in order. There is no qualification requirement to enter a higher level, provided you meet the membership requirements below.

The main differences between Level 1 and the higher levels could be one of the following:

More hides to locate.

Additional unscented (blank) Velcro distractions.

Increased search complexity.

Level 1 is open to everyone.

For Level 2 and above, your dog must be registered with Nosework Games.

Membership: From 1st September 2024, handlers must be members of Nosework games to compete at Level 2 and higher. Membership will be per handler and cost £12 per year. Multiple dogs can be registered FOC. Join here

If you've been thinking about giving Nosework Games a go, this is a great opportunity. They're fun, friendly competitions designed to challenge both you and your dog in a supportive environment.

Last night we ran Nosework Games Assessment, we had 3 dogs doing Level 1 Snake and Distance and Mr Rocky doing his Level 2.
A very successful night with everyone earning at least one rosette.

The best way to spend a Bank Holiday Monday?
This Dog Can Scentwork Experience! And today we took it to the miniature railway! 🚂
We had an amazing time outdoors, letting our dogs explore, sniff, and work in new environment filled with exciting distractions.
For our teams already trained on odour, sessions like this are a fantastic way to build experience, strengthen teamwork, and boost confidence in novel settings.
So proud of our gorgeous sniffer teams hard at work today – you were all brilliant! 🐾

Today we ran our Nosework Games Level 2 competition in Unstone.
We introduced a brand new game, Adopt a Position, which turned out to be great fun while also challenging handlers to explore new ways of communicating and working with their canine detectives. We also played Boom where everyone trying hard not to trigger the imaginary explosive device 🤣
