☀️ We all know the basics of keeping our dogs safe in a heatwave: Early walks, plenty of water and never leaving a dog in the car on a warm day ☀️
But here's something people don't always think about...Hot weather safety isn't just about avoiding the heat, it's about adapting to it, especially when the warm weather lasts for more than a couple of days.
On warmer days, swapping a walk for some training, enrichment or calm downtime can be just as beneficial for your dog. Mental stimulation and scent games are a great tool to tire your dog out on a hot day when physical activity is limited.
And remember, overheating doesn't only happen outdoors. Conservatories, garden rooms and poorly ventilated spaces can heat up surprisingly quickly too.
I hope the tips below help keep your dogs safe, comfortable and happy this summer. 🐾💚
