One of my babies from my litter in 2021 is looking for a new home through no fault of her own.
If you know of anyone or looking for a dog please get in touch.
Here is a bit about her
❤️ SALVADOR DALÍ – “DALI” LOOKING FOR HER FOREVER HOME ❤️
This is one of the hardest posts to write, because Dali is a very special girl. She is 4 years old, in excellent health, has a perfect ridge, and has genuinely never given us a moment of trouble.
Dali is the ultimate velcro dog. She wants to be with her people, preferably pressed up against you on the sofa, and she is happiest when someone is at home. She isn’t a dog who enjoys being left for long periods, and around two hours is her limit before she starts wondering where everyone has gone! 😂
In return, you get the most wonderful greeting every single time you walk through the door — full body wiggles, wagging tail and the sort of welcome you’d expect after returning from a three-year expedition! ❤️
I often describe her as a solar-powered wireless doorbell 😂. She will let you know when someone is at the gate and has the presence you’d expect from a guardian breed, but there is absolutely no aggression behind it.
Dali has a fantastic off switch and sleeps a lot. She loves her food and her walks and will certainly make her opinions known when either is late! She enjoys squeaky toys and chasing something you’ve thrown, although bringing it back has never really been part of the deal. 😂
👧 Children: She is fantastic with children — gentle, patient and loving.
🐕 Other dogs: She is good with other dogs, although she can be a little unsure initially. She does best with a couple of lead walks to get to know a new dog before being expected to socialise properly. Once she knows them, she’s absolutely fine. She is friendly and enthusiastic off lead and sometimes goes over to say hello with rather more enthusiasm than tact! 😂 If another dog tells her off, she simply backs away. She does not escalate situations.
🐿️ Prey drive: Dali has a strong prey drive and squirrels are definitely her nemesis! Her recall is reliable and she always comes back. She cannot live with cats or small furry animals — this is non-negotiable.
🌳 Exercise: She needs daily walking on a hard surface as well as her proper walks in woods and open spaces. The hard surface helps keep her nails naturally maintained, as she is absolutely not a fan of having her claws clipped!
💦 She is also not a fan of water, rain or baths and would much rather remain clean and dry, thank you very much! 😂
🥩 Food: She is fed a raw diet of Paleo Ridge Essentials — 500g a day split between two meals, with a small scoop of Alpha Spirit cold-pressed kibble mixed in. She looks fantastic on this combination.
🚗 One thing to be aware of is that Dali has never travelled particularly well and can be sick on longer car journeys, so she would suit a home where she isn’t going to be travelling long distances regularly.
Above everything else, Dali is loyal, affectionate, well mannered and genuinely lovely to live with. She has so much love to give and, in the right home, I know she could make someone incredibly happy. ❤️
🏡 Her ideal home:
• Someone who is home for most of the day
• No cats or small furry animals
• Someone who genuinely wants a dog who follows them from room to room ❤️
• A loving home where she can be part of the family
• Someone who understands and appreciates the wonderful temperament of a Rhodesian Ridgeback
I am not in any rush to find Dali a new home. This isn’t about finding the first person who comes along — it is about finding the right person for HER.
If someone does come forward, I will want to speak to them properly, meet them and, most importantly, have them meet Dali before anything is agreed.
She deserves nothing less. ❤️
Please don’t message just because she’s a beautiful Ridgeback. Please read everything above and think carefully about whether you can offer Dali the lifestyle and companionship she needs.
If the right person is out there, I’d love to hear from you. 🐾❤️
