A little change from plastering and damp proofing last weekend!

Quint was delighted to lend a hand alongside DK Groundworks LTD to extend the patio at York Against Cancer’s respite holiday home at The Bay, Filey.

It was a pleasure to donate our time to such a worthwhile cause, helping create a lovely outdoor space for families affected by cancer to relax and enjoy some precious time together.

Proud to have played a part! 💙

Getting plastering or damp proofing done isn’t the most exciting part of improving your home.

But it is the part you need to get right.

A beautifully decorated room won’t look its best if the plastering underneath is uneven. And there’s little point replastering a damp wall if the cause hasn’t been dealt with.

My name is Quint, and I run QA Plastering and Damp Proofing Services, a small family-run business based in Selby. I’ve been doing this for over 40 years.

Here’s what you can expect from us.

We’ll listen to what you need, take a proper look at the job and give you a clear and fair quote. Whether it’s a room that needs skimming, a full-house plastering job or a damp problem that’s been worrying you, we take pride in doing the work properly.

I’m also extremely fussy about cleanliness. I train my staff to work the same way, because having tradespeople in your home shouldn’t mean living with unnecessary mess.

If you need damp proofing, we can now offer a 30-year insurance backed guarantee on the damp-proofing work. And if you’d like to see what customers think of us, have a look at our five-star Facebook reviews.

We cover Selby, York, Goole, Tadcaster and the surrounding areas.

Got a job in mind? Send me a message and let’s have a chat.

Always a privilege to work somewhere as special as Carlton Towers 🏰

Quint and Dave have been back carrying out some damp repair work, this time up in the clock tower.

We’ve worked at Carlton Towers before, but this job took them even further behind the scenes, into parts of this amazing building that the public don’t normally get to see.

They even managed to get right up onto the roof and grab a few photos while they were up there — not a bad view from the office! 📸😄

We’re really grateful to be trusted to carry out work on such a beautiful historic building.

And whether it’s a building like Carlton Towers or your own home, you can expect the same care and attention from us.

🏠 🏠 Need a plasterer or have a damp problem?

We carry out all aspects of plastering and damp proofing, from skimming a single wall or ceiling through to full rooms, renovations and larger projects, as well as investigating and treating damp problems.

✔️ Plastering & skimming
✔️ Repairs & renovations
✔️ Damp investigation & treatment
✔️ Damp-proof plastering

We can now also offer a 30-year guarantee on qualifying damp-proofing work, giving you extra peace of mind.

So whether you’ve got a wall that needs skimming, a room to renovate or a damp problem that needs sorting, get in touch for a quote.

💡 Helpful Tip: Is It Damp… or Just Condensation?

Not every damp patch means you need damp proofing! In fact, it could just be condensation – and knowing the difference could save you a fair bit of money.

Condensation is usually:
✔ On cold surfaces like windows and external walls.
✔ Accompanied by black mould.
✔ Most common in bathrooms, kitchens and bedrooms where there’s not enough ventilation.

Rising damp is more likely to:
✔ Start at the bottom of the wall.
✔ Cause peeling paint or bubbling plaster.
✔ Leave white, powdery deposits (salts) on the wall.

🤔 Not sure which one you’ve got?

Please don’t guess… and definitely don’t let someone sell you a treatment you might not even need!

At QA Plastering & Damp Proofing Services, we’d much rather give honest advice than recommend work that isn’t necessary. If it needs fixing, we’ll tell you. If it doesn’t, we’ll tell you that too.

☀️ We hate to be the bearer of bad news… but summer won’t last forever! 🌧️

While the sun is shining, those damp patches might not seem quite so noticeable, but once the colder, wetter weather returns, they can soon rear their ugly heads again.

So why not get ahead of the game and get any damp issues sorted now, before the winter rush begins?

Stan 2.0 had his first visit to Carlton Towers today! 🏰🚐

It wasn’t just a sightseeing trip either – he was following in his predecessor’s tyre tracks and was there to work! 💪

He’s still waiting for his new graphics, but tomorrow he’ll finally be dressed for the occasion, and we can’t wait to show off his new look! 🚐💙

🚐 Meet Stan 2.0! 🚐

Last week, I said goodbye to Stan – a van that had been with me through countless jobs, miles, and memories. Losing him felt like the end of an era, and if I’m honest, I wasn’t ready to imagine anything taking his place.

But sometimes, when you least expect it, a new chapter begins.

Enter Stan 2.0! 😁

At first glance, you might think nothing has changed. He’s still a blue Volkswagen Transporter, but look a little closer and you’ll spot that this is actually a slightly newer, upgraded model.

The original Stan served me brilliantly and became a bit of a local celebrity over the years, so there was only ever going to be one name for his successor.

He’s getting ready to be put to work and, once he’s had his sign writing done and the private plate fitted, he’ll be looking the part.

As for the plate—yes, it says OAP! It was the closest I could get to QAP 😆 Although, given my age, an OAP plate seems quite fitting these days!

Keep an eye out for Stan 2.0 on the roads - and if you see him, give us a wave! 👋

Quality Assured. Always.
