Do not pay attention to the sign that tells you to follow the diversion for Donnewell Caravan Park that is misleading, does not exist and isn’t the access route that Durham County Council have told us to use.

Well done to Sedgefield Young Farmers over the last few weeks and especially today walking the final 17 miles from Sedgefield to Zoe's Place Baby Hospice Middlesbrough to complete the distance from Land’s End to John O’Groats. Certainly going to be some aching legs and feet tomorrow!

Just been through the roadworks myself, not sure how this is going to work as the week goes on, leaving the farm I was directed to exit eastbound towards Hartlepool, no sign of traffic management vehicle…

When trying to gain access to the farm coming in from Sedgefield you must wait at the road closed sign and phone the number on the sign to be es**rted through the roadworks.

I have also been informed by one of the wagon drivers that your car insurance will not be valid if you hit anyone or anything once you go past the road closed sign so please take care.

Such a shame there isn’t an old lane that could have been used to let us gain safe access

Remember, if you’d like to reschedule your appointment to another day after the roadworks please get in touch and I’ll reschedule it for you.

Due to roadworks on the A689 eastbound carriageway from Sat 15th Aug for 9 days our normal access route will be blocked off as there will be a contraflow in place.

We will still be open and accessible during these dates however you will have to come through Sedgefield from the roundabout at the racecourse/cricket club to get to us - SEE RED LINE ON MAP.

As you come out of Sedgefield heading towards the A689 there will be a ROAD CLOSED sign in front of you (circled yellow area) where you will need to speak to a traffic management person and ask for access to Donnewell Farm (a phone number will be provided for the traffic person - DO NOT PHONE ME) who will es**rt you through the roadworks to gain access to our farm.

When you leave your appointment at the farm entrance you will need to wait and speak with the traffic management person again (phone number will be on the sign) who will es**rt you back out the same way through Sedgefield.

I apologise in advance for the inconvenience that this WILL cause, I suggest you try to get to your appointments early to give yourself plenty of time to navigate the roadworks. If you would prefer to reschedule your appointment to avoid all this I would recommend you do so.

This lovely sign has just appeared today, who knows if we’ll still have access or not during these dates, Durham county council traffic website tells us absolutely nothing, no access arrangements plan, no maps, no emergency contact details, no letters explaining what is planned, nothing.

I will try contacting someone from Durham county council traffic department to find out more.

Hopefully it’s not like last time where they put the crossover point and cones out blocking our entrance starting on a Saturday morning at 8am because they know it’s impossible to contact anyone from the council on a weekend and then I got videoed moving cones and told that I’m now liable for any accidents just to gain access to our property and businesses.

If anyone can explain where the cause list is on the Durham website that would be much appreciated!
