Did you know your horse can trot on our treadmill dry too? 👀🐴
It’s not just for walking, and it’s not just for water sessions. Dry trot work is a brilliant way to build fitness in a controlled, consistent environment, especially when you want quality movement without the variables of hacking or the arena.

Why we love dry trotting:
✅ Controlled, even pace – no rushing, no slowing down, no “one lap good, one lap chaos”
✅ Great for fitness building – a safe way to develop cardiovascular fitness and stamina
✅ Encourages straightness and rhythm – helps promote a more consistent trot pattern
✅ Targeted muscle development – supports topline and hindquarter strength (when used appropriately)
✅ Weather-proof training – steady work without battling the elements

As always, sessions are tailored to the individual horse, their current fitness, and their history.

Important note: this is a general guide and only suitable for fit, sound horses with no history of injury unless we’ve discussed and planned a programme specifically for your horse (and where relevant, alongside your vet/physio plan).
Want to know if dry trot work would suit your horse? Drop us a message and we’ll talk it through. 🫶

Stifle height is a higher depth and one we use carefully, because it can be a real game-changer in the right program for the right horse.

Important note: General guide only, suitable for fit and sound horses with no injury history. Higher depths are not “better”, they’re just different, and we only use them when they suit the horse and the goal.

Hock height can be a really useful depth when the goal is building fitness without rushing speed. The water can change the energy cost of the work, even at a steadier pace.

Important note: General guide only, suitable for fit and sound horses with no injury history. We tailor sessions to your horse’s way of going, fitness and confidence.

Carpal height is where the water starts to ask more questions. You can see improved joint flexion and a rounder step, but it’s also a depth we introduce thoughtfully.

We always acclimatise horses at lower depths first and monitor how they’re moving and feeling throughout.

Important note: General guide only, suitable for fit and sound horses with no injury history. Depth and intensity should be tailored to the horse.

Mid-cannon height increases the challenge, often encouraging a longer stride with a slightly slower rhythm, which can be brilliant for building controlled strength and connection.

Important note: General guide only, suitable for fit and sound horses with no injury history. Sessions are always tailored to your horse.

Fetlock height is where you often start to see a bit more lift and shape through the step, without going “too deep” too soon. Great for encouraging a more purposeful, athletic walk.

Important note: General guide only, suitable for fit and sound horses with no injury history. We always tailor depth, speed, and duration to the horse in front of us.

Water at pastern height is one of our go-to levels for building quality movement without overloading. It encourages the horse to move freely, find rhythm, and start engaging properly behind.

Important note: General guide only, suitable for fit and sound horses with no injury history. Every session at Seven Mile is tailored to the individual horse.
