Another busy day at CanineAssist completing follow up visits checking on Progress .... Sniper (Rottweiller) is really doing well and his reactivity is reducing (only one minor reaction in 10 dogs today) and his recovery speed is so good.

Lenny is progressing nicely and after a minor relapse he has walked down his nemesis alleyway after refusing... we also worked on his car barking when arriving at a destination !!

Well done Everyone 💪👏💃🕺💯

So today we got to work with Travis & Ralph - these two have been squabbling so have had to be separated.

Today we introduced the "Assigned Seat Hack" along with some exposure work including passing by, jumping onto the sofa.

We were able to identify that these two suffer from some really big adrenaline spikes so working on enotional regulation is an absolute must as that will feed into interactions and could be a major part of the squabbles so lots of calmness protocols !!

So here is Rumble on his door work/visitor protocol ! (I may release my online guide 😉😉 soon)

Here you see us breaking the whole process into small bite size chunks ... we had already done a bit of noise desensitisation for the ring doorbell so that Ring Doorbell = reward on the bed if quiet!

Step 2 is walking to the door

Step 3 is opening the door

Step 4 is speaking/taking items in

Step 5 is people entering

There is absolutely no need to punish or "correct" a dog with physical impunity to get this result - if you teach and reinforce the correct action in small chunks the dog understands it and will do it ..... this also helps the dog regulate its emotional state (a really valuable skill) ... I can never understand why some "trainers" would yank, stim/shock a dog for getting it wrong.

It actually saddens me that we sometimes treat dogs with such distain in the name of training - as the human race we surely have to do better - especially when what we are demonstrating in this video is so so easy !!
