A few people have asked whether Raven has been out working with me over the last few days, so I thought this would be a good time to share what we’ve been up to. 🐾
Raven and I have recently started working with a professional trainer. As she’s a working-line German Shepherd, I’ve chosen to explore obedience and controlled bite work with her.
Breed fulfilment is about giving a dog appropriate outlets for the natural drives and instincts they were bred for. For Raven, this type of structured training challenges her both mentally and physically, gives her a clear job to focus on and helps us build an even stronger partnership.
She has a particularly busy training week this week, including an extra session before our holiday, so she’s been enjoying some well-earned rest at home. Rest is just as important as the training itself, it allows her body to recover, helps prevent physical and mental overload, and gives her time to process everything she’s learning.
She’ll still be joining me on plenty of walks and adventures with her friends, but this week we’re making sure she has the right balance of work, play and recovery. 🐕🖤
